Title: Biker Jailed After 166mph Speeding Ticket
Post by: Serious on October 28, 2009, 21:57:03 PM
QuoteA biker has been jailed after police recorded him driving at 166mph in Scotland earlier this year.

The judge handed a nine month sentence and five year driving ban to Neil Purves, after he admitted to a charge of dangerous driving.

Police were alerted to his speed by the "high-pitched engine noise" of the 27-year-olds motorbike as he drove down the A702 in Peeblesshire on May 13.

A veteran officer who arrested Purves was "shocked" by the "excessively high speed" achieved by the speeding motorist.

The prosecutor, Alastair Learmonth, told the court: "The speed libelled (charged) of 166mph is thought to be the highest speed recorded on a public road in Scotland."

The hairdressers lawyer tried to argue that he did not deserve a custodial sentence.

What was that about hairdressers and feminine sporty cars?

Quotespeed by the "high-pitched engine noise"

What?!?! a 50cc scooter going 45mph?!?!?!?!?!??!

Either way Im suprised, not that he got pulled over but the fact he was doing 166 on a mbike without trying to show off. Ive done 147 on a 650cc and 152 on a 1200cc and both were about 5-10 seconds long before i gave up from too much wind and effort. Used to have alot of fun on the airstrips at one of our offices in London :D

Oh yes they do, under the terms of the good friday agreement, there are dozens of convicted murderers roaming the streets and heading up criminal gangs - while the motorists with the metro style number plates are being pulled over and fined.

The running joke here is that if you want the police to turn up quickly, phone them and say you think the suspect was speeding, and had metro plates on their car.
