Do any of you guys smoke cigars?

For some reason in the last year Ive got in to them. Not sure why, but I have.

My favourites up to now are Romeo y Julieta No.3 Tubos, or Montecristos. Ive tried a few more like Rocky Patel, Cohiba etc, but think the Romeos suit me best.

Any other worth a try?

A friend of mine is a tobacconist, and gives me mates rates, but they are a lot cheaper abroad still unfortunately. I got a box of these for 40euro when I was in Amsterdam, but they are £90 odd in the UK http://www.simplycigars.co.uk/romeo-julieta-tubos-p-1578.html

If youre talking petit corona, Montecristo number 4 is a fine choice, as is the punch but a cheeky dark horse and my personal favourite is the diplomaticos number 4 but these arent easy to get hold of. Other decent shouts, San Cristobals are good but quite strong, Sancho Panza aint bad either, all down to personal choice I guess!

There are loads, depends what mood you are in, if you want something larger, robusto size or suchlike id recommend slightly different, the cristo 2 is great, the siglo VI is superb, but super pricey.

Love my cigars as matt5cott knows. Sadly unlike his Im sure, my humidor has nothing good in it at the moment as Ive had neither the money nor the occasion for them (occasion isnt really an issue though, any time can be made fit for a good cigar).

For someone without connections, you cant beat prices and service of http://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/index.php

Love the Romeo y Julieta 3s and Diplomatico 4s, the R y J range are always smooth and consistent in my experience, a good any time smoke. Montecristo 4s Ill second as well as the petit edmundo that Ive enjoyed. You do really need to expirement, youll find any cigars from the big players enjoyable but Im sure it comes down to personal taste as to which you would prefer. If you really want a cigar for an occasion try a Bolivar churchill - set aside a few hours for it.

Ive been meaning to try the Fonseca KDT Cadetes, they are pretty mild, youre a big fan of those I think matt?

Next you will be talking about your smoking jackets :P Better start linking pics of them now :P

havent dared have one since I quit the fags last year. Planning on have one on my wedding day (2012) if not before then though. Just worried it might push be back into smoking all the time....
Career, Wife, Mortgage... my sig was better when it listed guitars and PC's and stuff!

As above, cgars are excellent, the service is top top notch. My humidors not too bad at the moment, quite a lot of casualtys on the big side but plenty of petit coronas.

I have a 20+ of the fonsecas, Ill mail you one out at some point if you pm me your current address Clockd (I wont be particularly prompt at getting it out though)

So tell me guys, is it true (do you believe it to be true) that smoking cigars is better for your health than smoking cigarettes?

A while back i was tempted by cigars but prefer the clean(ish) lungs i think

I smoke a cigar a weekend at most, so thats one cigar a week.

Depends what you compare it to, if you smoke 20 benson a day then yeah maybe so, but then you will probably smoke 2/3 cigars a day instead, so a mixed bag :gag:

Youre probably more at risk of mouth cancer than the other respiritory problems and things like lung cancer associated with smoking, as you dont draw back a cigar the same as you would a cigarette (at least, youre not supposed to).

Id say overall its got to be healthier for you, especially only one a week a whatever. I also dont think you can really become addicted from cigars in the same way. They are generally a smarter, better product choice if you want to smoke something.

Ill take you up on that offer btw Matt, nice one :ptu:

Spooky, my family were discussing this tother night when we went out for a meal, I my parents had never heard that cigars were better but I also had thought they were meant to be "cleaner" or less addictive or something.

Serious

You arent supposed to inhale cigar smoke, and you dont smoke as many of them. They also dont have the filters which tend to contain some nasty substances but are bigger. So theoretically they are better depending on how you smoke them, how big they are and how many you smoke.

There is also supposed to be an anti-nicotine vaccine coming out in the next few years. Produces antibodies that grab onto nicotine and makes it too big to pass over the blood/brain barrier.

zpyder

If you dont inhale the smoke, how do you get the nicotine boost from cigars, or is it just the flavour in your mouth?

Clock'd 0Ne

Cigar smoking isnt/shouldnt be about the nicotine, its about the flavour.

Yes, for this reason I wouldnt give someone a Cohiba as a first cigar, they tend to be a bit full on to say the least :heehaw:

As a decent mid ranger Romeos and Punches, cant go wrong with em tbh :ptu:

tbh Chris if youre looking for new ones just go on c-gars, and buy a petit corona or a robusto if youre feeling flush of each of the major cuban brands, you should get a feel of what you like after that little haul  :w00t:

Had an aforementioned fonseca on Sunday, despite being UAE imports they smoked fine, 30 minutes, quite a light flavour very casual smoke.

As good as I remember any of the EMS ones I have had
