Mate from work posted on facebook last night that while on shift his wife was driving his two kids home and a van driver (with a trailer) skipped a red light and ploughed into their car. One kid was ok, the other had a broken leg and collar bone whilst his wife was in surgery for internal injuries. He just posted that shes died.

Its horrible - hes a really really nice bloke and they were very happy. Van driver is fine (of course) - fair play he must want to kill him. I dont know the exact circumstances but if it is that he just skipped the red I hope he gets the hardest bumming possible from the biggest sweaty bastard in whichever prison (I hope) they throw him in. Skipping the red at high speed is bad enough but in a van with a trailer?! WTF was he thinking?

RIP Kate

seems to be a week for tragedy

One of the lads from our Dublin office died on holiday in France - was on the way back to where he and his wife were staying from visiting friends - he phoned her to say he didnt feel well, was the last she ever heard from him.

He was in an induced coma he never came out of.

Thats terrible news, I cant even imagine the anguish and anger he must feel.

I second that.

That sucks and I second the sentiment that the van driver gets what is deserved. Seems to be that people dont get what red lights mean, so when they try to jump the lights they speed up, doubling the severity of anything that goes wrong. The lady I saw get hit in Guernsey at some lights would have been a lot better off if the driver had been doing the 20mph speed limit, rather than the 35-40mph he was doing to get through the pedestrian crossing (made doubly worse by the fact the lights were green for pedestrians, meaning he really must have been pushing it) :(

Put him into some state where he could be kept alive until his parents got there to turn the life support off I believe - something like that

That utterly sucks. :( :disappointed:

Also why do people these days use facebook etc for announcing stuff like this? Doesnt anyone use phones any more? The internet just creates mountains of fake grief. If someone creates a tribute page for my death, Im going to come back and stab them in the face for being a web 2.0 idiot.

Effectively it reduces the blood supply to the brain slightly reducing pressure. It also reduces activity lowering food and oxygen demand. This is considered by many doctors the best way of promoting recovery. Of course other doctors disagree with the procedure.

It also guarantees the person is out of any suffering they might have.
