my exams start next week, with another 25% extra time allocated

anyone else got any good news which can probably change the course of their life?

Can I ask a question, I never understood this myself.

They give you another 25% exam time due to difficulties you may have reading/understanding the question, so why give another 25% extra time which is just extra time worrying and not understanding the question!

Its so they can take longer reading the questions and writing their answers.  A mate from college had 25% extra time and it helped him no end. He was a genius but he couldnt get his head around written words and he would have failed without it which would have been a crime. As it was he got As

Fair enough, just there was a lad on my degree that had the same issue and the extra 25% just freaked him out as he would spend longer getting wound up by not understanding what was written in front of him.

ive got a horrible problem where i just scan read it, interpret what I think is the question and then go on off on a tangent to what they really want. some of the reccomendations theyve given me is pretty eye opening stuff,

applying it to my fea assignment last term pushed my marks up by 20% (i got 75% so i just have to slow down, an that usually does take extra time.

also my short term memory is shockingly bad, so i can read a question, forget half of it and then go off on what i think the question is. im quite surprised i managed to struggle through education sofar without having been spotted by those teachign me.

I was "diagnosed" with dyslexia, and also a high IQ funilly enough, and got all those 25% extra time things in exams, but no matter how much time you have, if you havent got any intention of learning and just being a dick it doesnt matter

U had extra time on my uni exams due to my hand and used a puter, BUT first time around I thought I was up for it I had them at 9am which was hard since i cant sleep to well, a January and freezing cold with a large vent you could not close, had to have a coat on one exam and heater for the 3rd - did not do well in those conditions and also did not get my extra time and break promised as the examiner did not know about it AND one exam i had like 5-6 people coming in and out of the room and another 3 computers packed up, ftw, lol

As clocked will tell you because I tell him a lot - last two years of my life = sh*tE, think I must have broken 3 while walking under a ladder

i got 25% extra time for all my exams for the same "condition" but seeing how i only used 50-75% of the time i had anyway it was pointless

Maybe you could build some mirrors to even things out? Wonder if that works - does anyone know any mirror makers? Are they lucky?

As someone who has to read the crap students write in exams youre far from alone in this.

i wonder if cutting the mirrors to shape counts as breaking a mirror?
