Grant National 2021 Covid Special edition
on: April 10, 2021, 10:20:36 AM
Copypasta from previous years:

Somehow we seem to have missed the 2020 edition, but its back! :worried:

Will we see Matt's uncle's tips appear this year? Will anyone actually win and not lose/break even?

I'll probably go with BetVictor again if they do up to 6th place E/W  though I've not made any picks yet.

https://www.oddschecker.com/grand-national/winner <- odds table, remember generally the odds tumble as the event closes in.

Usual disclaimer stuff of don't bet more than you can afford to lose, etc :ptu:

Tidy profit! I also had Minella Times, my uncle has stopped betting on the national a few years ago, I've not been able to see him for a while to ask if he fancied anything as I usually go for a drink at the pub with him, and obviously... I will see him this coming weekend finally.

Sorry I've been busy recently and missed this one  I do have a tactic that's worked up a mediocre profit the last few years (not last year as it was BS) I'll detail it here so we can be ready to rock and roll next year. Basically the Thursday before the national bet365 the last few years have dropped the following offer,

There are 2 roads you can walk, one you can either use an exchange like betfair to lay against yourself and snaffle around £80 risk free, details are on this site here https://www.teamprofit.com/bet365-grand-national-offer-explained

The second road is the one I take, is less scientific and is actually still gambling, what I'll do is use the offer to place £250 of bets for £125, I end up backing around half the field  this year I had 18 horses and had the winner and fifth, I don't like to back more than 1/2 below 16/1 so I got lucky on the winner.

I try and balance it so that 25/1 and below I put £10 e/w, bigger prices you can go for £5 e/w and still get tidy returns, I aim to have 7/8 "jackpot" horses and the rest are varying degrees of good to mediocre profit.

I seem to recall some post about last year but was "surprise it is on" and other discussion on it and nothing much else.

I did actually wonder if there was some viability to that kind of idea, I might give this a go next year

Happy days being able to catch up with your uncle again too

I did search just to be sure and couldn't see a 2020 post, so here we are!

As an aside, I didn't realise what an absolute faff they have made it to use the online gambling sites if you haven't registered or re-visited in a while. I ended up going back to BetVictor anyway and realised they were still doing 6 places E/W just hadn't advertised it heavily. I had to reupload a utility bill and await verification again despite having an account with them for donkeys, so I thought I'd miss it. Tried to login on Bet365, couldn't even resuscitate my account, it wouldn't let me login using just the email I registered with (I must have opened an account with them before usernames were a requirement). Tried Betfred too, but there didn't seem to be any way to actually deposit funds anywhere on the site, every time I tried it kept telling me to trade casino chips; no doubt there was a missed verification step I needed to do. It's also funny how despite all the gambling awareness crap plastered everywhere that they make it impossible to close your account without contacting customer support

In the end BetVictor had approved me so I still got my bet in but by that point the odds were quite gash compared to what I was originally gunning for. Still, tidy enough profit like you said, Matt
