Well Im off to Benidorm on Tuesday for a week with 3 others.  Itll be my first holiday with out my parents and well my first abroad for a long time.  Last time I was abroad was skiing in Norway & Austria with the school I was at.  Hopefully this should be a bit of a laugh, itll obviously involve rather a large amount of drink.

Anyone else going/been on holiday this year and where too?

BigSoy

Hopefully going away sometime in September, thinking greece/portugal/tunisia so far but will see whats around a bit further through August.

Whats the boy/girl ratio of your party btw?

Me and the good lady should be heading somewhere cheap and warm later this year, maybe the Canaries.

Aye wait and see whats cheap around when you want to go, checked the travel agents website the other day to find the same holiday Ã,£100 cheaper which was nice.  But if we hadnt of booked it then wed never be going probably.

Theirs 4 of us going, all lads.  Two are gay and are together so that leaves more ladies for me and the other guy lol.

Vini

My holiday this year saw me in Serbia. For this years Exit Festival.

I was told of one of our customers whos a bit of a maverick, went on holiday recently to Chechnya, to go up something like Europes third highest mountain. Tales were told of how he practically had to bribe his way into the country and around it, plus the small fact of it being nearly a war zone full of bandits and organised criminals..

I might go back to the verticality of the Dolomites in the autumn  8)

Good call, last time I went on a boozing holiday, it was 6 lads + 2 girls - a recipe for disaster to be honest.

Thankfully, I was too well-lubricated to notice :)

Therell probably be quite a scary holiday but some of the storys that he has to tell will be really interesting.  As long as he didnt get his arse shot off, then it wouldnt be very good lol.

Hopefully Ill be a little too well lubricated for the week too, but 8 of you all going together, blimey that would be a receipe for disaster ... and lots of fun at the same time lol.

Been looking at places to go in September, trivial option is greek islands or the canaries but in general Ive found the canaries beach holidays to be a little bland, dont about greece. Anyway, one of the alternatives that might be possible is Luxor in Egypt, just wondered if anyone has been there and had any thoughts? Im sure someone had been to Egypt on here fairly recently, couldve been Clockd possibly?

Seems to be some decent deals available on relatively nice central hotels, and lots to do/see there.

My dad was seriously considering gong to Iran last year in order to do an unclimbed peak. In the end he went to some obscure former soviet state near kazakhstan and did 6 unclimbed 6000m peaks!

Though my dad is scottish & a bit mental with his climbing hobby.

Yeah we stayed in Sharm el Shiek last year, fantastic for scuba diving and snorkelling (if ya lucky ya might see a sea turtle  ;) ). We also had the oppurtunity to go to Cario for a day visit which we took to see the Pyramids, the Sphinx, the Cairo museum and the old market town. The Cairo museum was absoultely fantastic especially as it exhibited King Tuts mask. However we only got a couple of hours to spend where you would probably most likely need a day which I was disappointed about. We then went to the pyramids which was aboslutely fantastic, definitly worth the trip tp see. However when we got the oppurtunity to go inside I was rimming with excitment expecting to hieroglyphics on the wall and decided to fight my claustophibia and climb in to the pyramid for a very cramped ten minute walk. When we got to the tomb room I admit I was gutted cause all there was was a stone tomb box. I over hyped myself too much, dont get me wrong I was excited to be in one of the seven wonders of the world but when you see all this documetaries of these historians going into these colourful pyramids ya kind of expected to see the same  :( .

Anyway a few tips if you do decide to go:

1. Take your own bog roll they charge expensive prices to use theirs

2. Be prepared to haggle the eygptians love british or american money especially the taxi drivers.

3. Plenty of dirohea tablets, dont drink from there taps, drink plenty of fresh water.

4.The Eygptians love tourists and they also love to be in your face all the time they are very adment and do not know the meaning of browsing lol.

5. Their favourite saying is lovely jubbly.

If you really want to go to Eygpt I recommend Sharm el Sheik for the sea life, scuba diving and snorkelling. However if it is the history side you want to see I recommend going on a River Nile cruise that takes you to all the historic places.

Hope that helps lol

I was away in skegness between 28th July to 6th August.  Was a good week.  Cheap as well. :)

Well I got back late last night, had a good time.  Got rather sunburnt at times and had a bit to drink too.  Was bloomin cheap, one bar was 1 euro a pint, so 70p a pint.  Or they had happy hour & a halfs on so 90 mins of buy one get one free.  I think temperature wise it hit 34 degrees during the day dunno what at night but it was far to hot, that was the only real downside to the entire thing.  But overall it was a good week.
