Problem is you weigh up the extra money you might make from ebays larger buyers audience vs lower fees elsewhere. Ive listed a few thing tother day and I was going to do it on amazon, their fees are a flat 17% of the cost, which isnt really better.

The fee structure means you end up with people selling at 2 ends of the spectrum. Theres the businesses that subscribe to the power seller program and so get cheaper listings, and the individuals who just want shot of their stuff and dont mind the fees as they get more on ebay than they would if it went to a car boot sale or charity. The people inbetween just get hammered.

Craiglist which was before Ebay in the US is now really growing again literally due to Ebay looking to get more money out of people all the time.

I never knew that until now! Gumtree is great, but IMO only if you live in a big city. Smaller towns dont seem to get as many hits so I have found a lot of stuff doesnt sell in my area. I have however found some real bargains!  8-)

Maybe so, but its free to list and sell stuff.

Ive sold many items from cars to phones to computer bits on Gumtree and found some really good bargains too.
