Some are claiming its purely racially motivated to keep them out by setting the costs of entry at a very high level. Question being is thre any chance of this sort of stance spreading elsewhere in Europe? Could the UK go down that route?

Article doesnt give much detail but the applicant has to have a very high standard in speaking the Dutch language. The video they are supposed to watch includes coverage topless women on a beach which would be problematic for many Islamic men.

Its provocative to be sure, and more than a little hostile.

I do agree with the intent to some degree though, even if its done in a very ham-fisted way.

I think a "lite" version of the DVD could be a good idea. Something that lets them know what to expect and that Dutch society values civil liberties, and that it not only protects same sex couples from persecution, it allows people to practice Islam without interference as long as womens rights are respected.

Again, the vid as it stands, seems out to simply be antagonistic, but I agree with the intent--the stated one, not the obviously thinly veiled hostility.
