Alcohol out of my diet for this month, although I am cheating as theres a beer festival on the 27th and im not missing that

Other than this though, nay alcohol :bowdown:

Tips anyone? I know im going to get bummed at £2.50 or something for a bottle of water when I go out as well

I stopped drinking during the week and just drink fri and sat now (usually).

When I did my 8 weeks non drinking but still going down the pub with mates I ended up spending more money than when i was drinking

Pint of Coke/Lemonade/J20 etc costs the same or more than a pint of lager but goes down alot quicker

Apart from the price it was damn easy tho (alot of people thought I would fail... Rivkid

)

Currently trying to stop/cut down on my coffee intake at work but the problem Im having with that is its a great excuse to get away from the desk for a few min

I never witnessed your non alcohol drinking so as far as Im concerned thats unproven!!

I have probably had less than 10 pints this year.... I just dont drink much anymore. How times change!

I hate not having a proper pint when Im out as Im definitely not a soft drinks person and there are only so many ludicrously overpriced J2Os you can have before getting fed up, I might only have one or two drinks if Im not having beers for whatever reason.

Dont get bummed on Evian and the likes though, thats almost as bad.

Youll miss it when having a cigar too

I think the best tip is buy a few bar snacks instead, although depending on what you get they could make you equally thirsty.

You dont need to spend loads on bottled water, by law any establishment selling alcohol has to provide free tap water.

But legally they can charge for use of the glass, and the service (Unless requested when youve payed for a meal).

Im not bothered at all if I dont drink on a night out... if its only going to be a short night Id rather drink coke and drive anyway...... but i do like a nice pint of newcastle brown ale on a night.... as the 14 (just counted) empty cans on my desk show...

if you take your car keys out with you alot of bars will give you a soft drink for free if you show your keys when buying a round of 2 or more drinks.

Unfortunately tap water isnt free in a hell of a lot of bars around this country.

that tap water has to be provided free seems to be a well known fact but does anyone actually know what law/act it is from or is it just one of those things that everyone says and everyone assumes to be true?

as for the OP - dont bother giving up alcohol - tis pointless - just go for moderate drinking if youre health conscious

some research suggests that moderate drinking is arguably healthier than not drinking at all and Im not just on about red wine/anti oxidants

your alternatives are tap water that tastes crap, overpriced orange juice, posh bottled water, or coke
