In terms of DJI - Data.
Their avoidance technology has got better due to the tech improvements of course but it is more about learning and the data available. Companies buy data all the time because that is ultimately the most essential thing. Having the software data for avoidance and being allowed to get a head start on that technology is invaluable. DJI will do it because it would be massive for marketing.
