Is podcasting Uni lectures the way forward with learning? Would you prefer it?

I take it you are referring to the story on bbc news, some microbiology lecturer is doing this isnt he?

I suppose if you are the sort of student who puts the effort in anyway then a podcast will be more use than a lecture with 250 people in. For one thing you wont have to listen over all the chatting people in the lecture hall and you can rewatch the lecture when you want.

However if you are more like me you would probably end up doing so little work that you would get left behind - would be interesting to have tried it though (bit late for me now as my last exam is next thursday).

For certain types of lectures its already quite popular. Shouldnt replace real flesh and brick and mortar for most, imho.

Ive recorded the odd lecture in the past.

Thing is some lecturers can be assholes when it comes to recording them, they refuse to give permission for recording devices in their lecture theatres. Claiming copyright infringement.

Thankfully... even phones and ipaqs are quite good at being used as mobile dictaphones :) Great stuff! :D
