Recently I have been waking up in the middle of the night, at random nights and random times.

I wake up and it feels like my chest is closed up and I cant breath properly. I find it difficult to control my breathing when I try.

If I get up out of bed I am really clumsy and trip over and itd look like Im off my face on 20 beers and a few tequilas.

The only thing I have done recently, but not to recent to co-incide with this new strange behavoir is I have been going to the gym quite a bit, which has made a difference to my energy levels especially at the gym but about the same seemingly when Im not at the gym.

I have a good diet, lots of different types of food.

Anyone got any suggestions/theories? Im going to go to the walk in center in town if it continues.

Oh I dont dream either, or atleast remember my dreams and I do wake up sometimes with a sweat on.

Anything causing stress or anxiety in your life?

You might not be breathing properly. It might be no real problem, but... Go see a doctor and discuss it with them.

Easy this, no exactly what it is as you said Gym.
Gym after work then eat then bed in evenings? Eat heathly most of the time?

Weights and then sleep causes sleep problems, also not having the proper 3 day rest period will cause more sleep problems coupled with the muscles having a fit at night and so if you do wake up, chest, legs, arms just go mental - hence looking drunk.

Are you just drinking water when you work out? The other problem will be lack of energy input, you need to be taking some Isotonic drinks before and during a intense work out. You feel thirsty and it too late. Not just to re-hidrate but to get energy levels. Simpley upping your sugar intake will help.
Note though it funny, you need Energy and Sugar is a good source - Mars Bar etc will be fine but not right after training as it will un-do all your work.

Basically if your working out a lot at the moment and in the week your finishing work going gym and then eating dinner in the evenings and it is quite late when you do....

- Make sure you have your 3 day a week rest period, muscle development will occur here not when your working out, they grow during the rest bites. Not doing so will cause funny stuff when you sleep.
- Working out late causes sleep issues and it is hard to fix, los of people use nightoll etc to help.
- Energy levels and stay highdrated. Up energy based food inake in between work out and bed but not just after work out or just before bed. Best way is have a pudding.

If what neXus is saying fits try exercising earlier and check your salt intake. If you are sweating excessively you might be lowering your bodys salt levels.

Also try exercising 4-6PM, this time period tends to be better for your exercising your heart according to the BEEB. I wouldnt advise too much instant sugar intake, its bad for you and can cause diabetic problems. Youre better off eating bananas than mars bars.

I actually ate a banana last night before I went to the gym. I didnt wake up once. I drink water, at the gym. Some times Ill get an isotronic drink.

I now try and have a little food before heading to the gym and a light meal when I get back, then Ill have atleast an hr before I hit the hay to go to sleep, normally 1.5 upto 2 hrs so bed time is around midnight.

I think the banana is a good plan for now and Im going to try that and having 2 light meals one before and one after.

I normally have a pitta bread with some houmous on before going to the gym bas my light meal and then a mixture of foods after. I might have some pasta or some veg, or pasta and veg. or I might do some sausages or chicken when I get home.

Cheers neXus.

Oh and my whole life is stressfilled. I try to deal with it by listening to Lionel ritchie and Smooth radio.

Stress and the way you have your energy intake from working out etc as mentioned is actually not normal so your body acts nuts at night. Hope you get on track with it.

Used to get it after rugby training 7-9pm and then home to eat dinner, Did not sleep to well now and again but normally so knackered you passed. Gym weight lifting etc is different and I have had a few dodgy nights waking up strange as well when I have had to do my workout but also done freelance work so it has been quite late. Nothing You can really do, will happen but following what I put and trying to fit it into how your day goes and you should be fine.

Glad your on the right track.

I know a fair bit since we had training sessions at Rugby where they just talked died and training for the whole session, very boring, got lots of free booklets but it was quite serious when I played so was important.
