Hey all.
Can you guys confirm this one?
I sometimes think my parents are crazy sometimes, I am sure you get it where they have seen something or something has been done before when it actually hasnt. They will swear blind, but you know they are talking rubbish! Bless them, they are getting old!
A few times now though, my dad at least as come out with "Seen it before, on the plane"
I would have a new movie or one on Sky (when we were back in England) and Dad will have "seen it" yet he will have not rented it on DVD, has no clue about downloading movies and does not go to the Cinema.
I have the New Star trek on the server here and Dad and Mum went to watch it last night. After a bit they said "seen it!"
Apparently before it was even out in the Cinema when they went to Australia earlier in the year it was on the plane.
Is this true, do movies get shown on planes these days before or just as they hit the cinema? I do not fly often and not been on an actual holiday in years but this can not be right?
Dunno, but for my parents its the other way round usually, with them claiming theyve not seen a film that they have, often more than once. Luckily I have a very good memory when it comes to films and I can usually say that in the next scene xxx happens, and then they just claim that I must have seen it without them.
Sometimes though they reckon theyve seen things that are just out on Sky Box Office, which considering they dont go to the cinema, and certainly dont go on any flights that show movies, is quite impressive.

I get that too. I remember much watching the 6th sense for the THIRD time swearing blind she had not seen it. She said the same thing the second time around, lol.
Its quite common, Ships & planes even have their own DVD region!
Quite often they have films that are just in the cinema or just out the cinema.
I am not sure who controls it, but its worth remembering films can be r eleased at different
dates around the world.

Some interesting deals must be made here then. And there must also be DVDs for these planes floating around even before the movie is out in the cinema then. Would this explain very good better then R5 versions of movies that pop up on the net? (Without any "viewed for your rating company" text on them)
I would hazard a guess that planes and things can show stuff when it comes out in the US.
I bet it has something do with with international waters being a bit of a free for all too, where regional film policy doesnt apply, like with gambling.
Aye, I will ask my sis next time I speak to her about it. Am guessing its the whole duty free thing, same with terminals. Shame if this is the case why you cant go and buy the DVDs at the airport :D
Because until they are produced commercially they arent going to be available? Because they wouldnt make the profit of people going to the cinema? They want maximum profit from it in order to pay the costs and hopefully line their pockets a bit or they wont make the films.
