My Flat Management company sent me a mail, after carrying out an inspection yesterday... thought Id post just for a bit of a laugh. (I didnt go down the spider with 7 legs route, but I enjoyed writing it. also bare in mind this freezer is quite old and the handle has been broken since we moved in, so hasnt seen the best of days! (Have removed some info)

Their Email:

Dear Tenants

On inspection we noted that the Creda Freezer has a large build up of ice.  As a result of this some of the drawers are not able to be opened.   This will have to be totally defrosted shortly to prevent the drawers from being broken.

We also noted that it was making a "funny" noise the whole time that we were in the property.

Regards

My response:

Dear [Flat company],

Thank you for visiting our abode.

The freezer was defrosted only a couple of months ago, due to an issue with ice build up. It appears that our freezer is excelling in it primary purpose of freezing.

We keep our freezer in good order, turned on to a low number and do not overload it, which I understand is the primary cause of ice build up.

I dont believe that we have an immediate risk of drawer breakage as they are made from metal, but we will be very careful with the drawers until the required action is taken.

The funny noise mentioned has been emanating from the freezer on and off for the past year or so, I believe this is the noise it makes when it is generating its excessive ice. This may be a problem with the thermostat in the device and expect due to its age it is faulty, the best cause of action to resolve future freezing issues would probably be to provide a new frozen food storage device, one that perhaps generates less ice.

On a slightly different matter, I would also live to give you written confirmation that I will be terminating my contract at the end of November (End of day on the 30th). However the other tenant of the property will be remaining at the property after this date and will be continuing the contract. [Name] will be contacting you separately regarding this.

Thank you for your mail and look forward confirmation of the above.

Many thanks
