Hi guys,

Landed a new job, and my employer asked me to drop of my P60 so that he can claim me any outstanding money they owe me while i start work?

My previous job was actually part-time, and i was paid cash at the end of each day i worked there. I do not recall getting a P60.

What should i do?

He is doing this so i can get my 1st months pay in my first week because i said i will be having a little trouble supporting myself for the first month.

Without a P60 what happens, is it serious?

Mardoni

Does he not mean P45 ?

P60 is usually issued at the end of each financial year and contains a complete listing off all money paid to you (including expenses) and all the Tax and NI you paid.

I cannot remember ever receiving a P60 upon leaving a job, just a P45.

I didnt get a P45 either, the job was just found as he was a friend of my dads, but i just went there each day, cash at the end.

Thats all i remember

Leon

so you *should* have one from the job before (if there was one :)) if not im not sure, I never remember where my P45s come from or even giving them to people :)

LOL my previous job was also cash hahaha, but that was ages ago.

If youve had a *real* job in the past year then you need to find the P45 they issued you. If not then just tell your new emplyer that you have not been employed for the past 12 months.

Serious

A P45 is something that you have to give them, otherwise you go onto emergency tax and that will take more out of your money. You get it back later though, when they have your proper tax number. The company should be able to sort this out themselves but it could take months.

If you were working for a reputable company rather than some fly by night then go back to them and ask for the P45 If you never paid tax then they wouldnt have been and you probably owe the government.

If you spent time on Social Security or dole after leaving then go to the local offices for your P45. Its always useful to sign up here, even if you expect to go almost straight into another job. IF you dont get employment quickly they are your lifeline and will give you some of your tax dosh back.

Got no idea why he wants a P60 though, as said previously thats an end of year tax form, unless you can claim some tax back from your previous year.

Question comes down to if you have paid tax in your previous job, if so then revenue and customs might be able to help, if not then you would have nothing for hm to claim back

Tax dodge for labour on your previeous jobs then...

Just say you dont have one...

Sam

just say you cant find it or dont have one. Its not a big deal, youll just pay more tax for a few months but will get it back later on.
