1m aint enough. you need at least two. 1 to set your finances up for life and 1 to pay for the house, villa, porsches and boats.

and then the bitches will follow.

Matt

Quixoticish

I like to think Id be moral enough to not press it, but then that is quite a fair amount of money.

In truth Id end up stuck in something of an existential quandary with the thought of me ending up dying because someone else pushes the button stopping me from doing it.

I would then destroy the box to prevent my head from exploding.

Edit : Ahh right, so the box is finished and can never be used again once the button is pushed? In that case Id push it fairly quickly, nothing to do with the money but the thought that a few days/weeks/months down the line someone else could be pushing it and snuffing me out.

knighty

to be fair.... with 6 billion people on earth (or summit like that) theres not much chance that youll be the one killed if someone else pushes it ;)

Serious needs to explain a bit more.

Im assuming that only people who have received the box in the past and then not pressed the button are eligible for the chop.

Mongoose

it has the feel of a "deal with the devil" story, whichever way you go is going to backfire.

Pete

Id push the button because:

1) Id get a million quid
2) Yeah, a million quid!
3) Im saving someone else from the moral dilema
4) The person who dies would die eventually anyway so its not that bad.
5) Aston Martin DB9 and a house in the country!
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Edd

yes serious didnt really explain the particulars

i still stand by my decision to push the button tho, one million is one million, and people have been killed for far far less

and whose to say the person that dies isnt a massive scumbag? There are too many unknown unknowns in this ;)

Serious

I gave as many details as supplied. I would assume that.

The box cant be destroyed, it simply moves on, is recreated somehow.

There is no backlog of data kept, it wont tell anyone if you have pressed the button.

There was no statement of the box ending if the button was pressed, so assume it just goes to the next person. With 6 billion people on the planet I would assume its been to quite a few before it reaches you and at least one has pushed the button previously.

Selection of recipient and target is entirely random, but not from people you know, so no friends, aquaintances, people you have seen on TV, heard on radio, etc. You might be the randomly selected target when someone else pushes the button, although you only have a 365 in 6 billion plus chance of dying from this in a year. If you pressed the button or not will not have any effect on selection.

The film version is doing the rounds now, although its not recieved good reviews. That in turn comes from an episode of The Twilight Zone, a storyline called Button, Button, second synopsis in the link below.

In that case, if it resets, Id say the box/button would be the fastest growing pandemic to affect the world.

I mean, a good chunk of the global population would be pressing the button only a few seconds after being told "If you press the button you will get £1million..."

At least itd end the overpopulation crisis, in the process getting rid of capitalism (in the end itd be a small group of people left that know each other and are all Millionaires ><)

extrapolating from that assumption, those left alive are going to have a major inflation problem quite quickly

The whole idea is pretty stupid. Yeah why not, Id tap it like a woodpecker.

indeed, probably channeled through the main deflector dish, but whatever you do dont forget to re-route power from all non-essential systems and be ready to jettison the warp core.

And dont worry, when it all goes wrong and the Chief Engineer and hyper-intelligent android cant fix the problem the gawky teenage Ensign will find a solution.
