I quite like it, but it's a bit too much white imo.
If it was changed to the light blue that's up there ^^ where it says post reply.  That might work?

i take it all the people complaining about white were hating the std theme? and change the background in word to black with white text?

i take the point its not very subtle, maybe try it #f1f1f1 but it does do a good job of highlighting the content. i hate forum themes where sigs appear as important as the chat, its just wrong.

The problem is definitely one of contrast, as I have been using this theme for a week now and still am not used to it; I think the idea is excellent but I still find the striking contrast between the white bubble and the dark background overbearing and distracting. It definitely would be fine just toned down a bit/made into one of the blue hues.

these colours in the quote boxes work a lot better maybe if the white could be toned down to a slight blue

I've just noticed people's personal text/custom title is missing, e.g. matt5cott's "I had a wheelbarrow, but the wheel fell off"

Goblin

As a personal preference, I would prefer little more distinction in the bubbles on the front page showing which forums have new posts. The addition of the quote marks is a little subtle and doesn't make it obvious where the new posts are.

Maybe have the new posts one in the Tek yellow?
It's all fun and games until a 200' robot dinosaur shows up and trashes Neo-Tokyo... Again.

TheMallrat

The white is definitely too bright. Also the quote marks on the homepage to let you know when new posts aren't that easy to see.

One of the things was - Not subtle enough for previous ones so I made it subtle. 99% of the time the first thing you do is read the right side or Click show unread posts. You noticed them though, job done. It does not have to be in your face.

Just so people know, the background being labeled white is not actually white, its a light grey.

Also - No colour works to achieve what these are supposed to do other then the colour it is, it is no bubbles so I will remove them.

If you actually have your monitor set up properly Egg there is actually a very big difference to #f5f5f5 and #ffffff. At least it is coming to light that a number of people here have bad monitor setup and to high contrast. Not just this site, others and general day to day it must look way off.
My samsung, dell, macbookpro and imac you can easily see the differences in colour and still bright. Mac you can not get any more gloss / in your face screens.

Changing it though. A different default theme with standard layout and this kept as an option I will do over the weekend asap and tweak both.

Its not that far off white, and tbh no i don't own a Mac so i'm not into spending countless hours playing with my contrast so i can download songs on my iTunes all night long.   :o  :heehaw:

Seconded. Don't have to make the new post markers yellow necessarily, just something marginally more obvious would be nice.

Other than that, yay it's starting to look like Tekforums again :)
