QuoteHorse manure has been dumped on the front lawn of Jeremy Clarksons house by climate campaigners.
They have been protesting against the TV presenters views on global warming.
Activists from environmental group Climate Rush said they had targeted the Top Gear presenter for his "blasé attitude to climate change".
The seven female protesters, dressed as suffragettes, made the stop outside Clarksons home in Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire as part of a month-long awareness campaign.
A spokesman for the presenter said he had no comment on the stunt.
The groups spokeswoman, Tamsin Omond, 24, said: "I love Jeremy, I love fast cars, I love progress, but Ive learnt some things and those things terrify me.
"If we keep on loving the fossil-fuelled lifestyle then by the time I hit 49, the world will be too busy coping with the impact of climate change to bother about how big an engine is possible.

For some reason I found this amusing :mutley:
TBH, I hope the get prosecuted. This isnt the way to promote your cause it is a good way to get into the papers and probably cause a few chuckles at the victims expense.
Clarkson is an entertainer, he feeds off what the masses want and that is a car program with humour and big engines. If that is what people want to watch then that is the problem not him "promoting" it.
well it hasnt changed my view on global warming/climate change, i still dont care... since theres no way to prove its our fault
if it was me I would thank them for free fertilizer and use it to just spite them.

Exactly. Theyve done nothing but demonstrate their own stupidity, and if they havent figured out that Clarkson is an entertainer then why should anyone listen to them about such a complex issue as climate change?
Id spread it on my roses and get on with the day. :)
Im sure their mentality is that if they get even one person "converted" it would have been worth it :(
What about the methane from the manure as it breaks down and whatnot? I bet fossil fuels will have been used in its removal perhaps, and how did they get the manure to his garden?
I hope they get whats coming to them, and if i was Clarkson i would locate where they all live and go take a sh*t on each of their lawns.

Me too.
And point out that they would had have to drive there with a load of smelly stuff to actually orcastrate their plan.
Come on, Clarkson makes himself a big target by his activity, attitude and statements made on TV. Just cause I choose to laugh at this doesnt stop me watching top gear.
As to those who are saying there is no proof we cause global warming, you obviously have good blinkers on. The only people going against this are the oil barons and their paid for lackeys. There is plenty of evidence.

Clarkson just rebels over the the people who seem to think car are the main cause of global warming, and seem to think that if we replaced oil fed cars with zero emission cars GW would stop, the sad face is its other sources of emission that have the mainstay of the effect, if the coal power stations reduced one or two percent it would make a far greater difference than if every one dropped down an engine size or two.
The biggest cause of global climate change is the production of electricity.
Said electricity will power our eco-cars and save us all.
Yeah
If they said what it was really about, as in breaking our dependance on other countries for oil and gas, then yeah fine but the BS about climate change is insulting.
Cars are just a part of transport, although they could be more economical to make and drive. Who really needs a 27 litre supercharged lump under the bonnet that uses three gallons to the mile? do people really need 500HP available when they are mostly going to be crawling through traffic jams?
The electricity issue is possibly the easiest to solve, providing enough are prepared to accept alternative forms of generation and use energy saving products.
Gas can be created at sewage works, that would also help reduce gasses that increase global warming.
Our dependence on oil and gas is a side issue, the UK will be a gross importer of energy for the foreseeable future. Getting enough wind turbines would help but it wont cure the issue.
I still dont believe in climate change. I think were just coming to the end of an Ice Age...
And I dont think Jeremy Clarkson would have cared that much about it, hes still going to drive fast cars.
If someone dumped a load of horse manure outside my house, I could put in someone elses front garden... one with lots of cats in... and save me a load of money. (:

I think its cows actually ?
I dont not believe in climate change, but I also dont believe in it. I do believe however that the system at work is so incredibly complex that I think very few people are qualified enough to say one way or the other about it.
On the other hand though I do wholeheartedly believe that the direction humanity wants to take to combat climate change, real or not, can only be a positive thing.

No I didnt believe in it either, I allways thought that is the natural change of the planet, if thats the way its going to be than so be it. But It has been proven. Since the industrial revolution in the 1700s Co2 levels have simply increased non stop. Before it has simply been a natural curve of highs and lows. We can see that through frozen samples that we can extract and date the sample.
Dont ask me for links. This is just through talking who work at Warwick Uni. A quick google on the matter turns up samples such as this.
http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/science/recentac_majorghg.html#fig1Yes I know its not 100% proof but I think you would be naive to continue the way we produce carbon emmision and not consider the damage. There is allready an ozone hole the size of wales over the north pole.
Im not a believer in changing our lifestyles for the sake of it, Im not going to stop putting my foot down, but I am a believer in unnessecary waste, leaving on my tv and not using it for a whole week etc. One of my good Friends switched to EDF, when the previous electricity board asked why, he told them he supported EDFs plans for future Nuclear expantion. I think the lady on the phone was a bit unprepared.
To be fair, the French are simply the leaders in Nuclear power atm.

Doesnt the link show though that Co2 reaches these levels on approximately a 100 000 year basis?

It shows that Co2 has a regular cycle, which coincides normally with the temperature cycle of the earth, unless there is a high amount of dust. The problem is since farming started the temperature has remained roughly constant, up until the last 100 years, when it should be dropping. Instead its going up again. Nothing else has changed except for our burning fossil fuels.
In the 60s it was thought that we would have global cooling, but that was due to particulates we put up there blocking sunlight. When we changed to more smokeless fuels the temperature drop reversed quickly. After 9/11 and the ban on flights over the US average temperatures on flight routes climbed because we were not pumping water vapour into the upper atmosphere. Humans certainly have the capability of changing the world climate and have done so recently.
