For someone that doesnt play poker, how does it work, as I thought half of it was "poker face", and being online isnt that a bit difficult?

yeah its hard to bluff online, usually just involves making decisions quickly to show confidence and slowly if you want to appear like you have a bad hand, also making big bets to try and force people to fold.

I got bored after a couple of hours, about $2 down so far. Think Ill join a higher stake table next time.

no harm in chucking £20 in & getting a £20 match.

dont bother with the playing for money per hand, if its just for fun. play the $1 / freeroll tournements.

Also, find a good background thats an indication of an odd checker, ie what to play, what to throw away.
somthing like

People play totally different in the free tournys as opposed to the ones where their own money is at stake.

I play on Ladbrokes and theres plenty on there. Im currently about 1euro down.

go to a major site - they will have plenty of micro stakes games going

the two main sites are pokerstars.com and fulltiltpoker.com

betfair and partypoker are also decent sized sites which are properly regulated

also go read some books published by twoplustwo - in particular the harrington books and david sklanskys theory of poker.

I just put £10 a week on online lottery instant wins.

One week I got £140

well the US has some retarded laws

but poker stars and full tilt still accept US players - though they have to jump through a few hoops for deposits/withdrawals

AFAIK head of party gaming is either in jail or under arrest in the US after having to change flights there they day after they passed the legislation - fairly screwed up - would be like the UK arresting the CEO of some US porn company because people in the UK can access his US based website....

I play on PKR and limit myself to playing just the Single/Multi Table Tournaments. No ring game / sit and goes for me as I am crap at cash game strategy :)

Theyve got loads of "fake money" and micro-stake tables across the entire range of game types.

Its worth reading some stuff on the site before you start out. There are some basic strategy guides and general "poker life" information. http://www.pkr.com/en/raise-your-game/quick-start/

just an FYI - "sit and go" = informal tornament (single table) not cash game.....

i.e. you sit at the table and other players start to join - as soon as the table is full the tornament goes....

Right enough.

I put sit-and-go and knew it was wrong, went off and found the name (ring game) and didnt edit sit-and-go back out :)
