I know there is one or 2 on here into Cigars anybody else tried a pipe?

I have been joking around with a mate for years about taking up the pipe! his Mrs is very anti-smoking and even has issues with people going out to the garden for a smoke if spending the evening at their house, I have joked about her reaction to somebody pulling out a pipe lol, we happened to be walking past a tobacconist a few weeks ago and he dared me to put up and shut up! So I went and bought a cheap 14 quid pipe, 50g of tobacco and the other paraphernalia needed.

I'm a smoker but very lightly these days 5 or so most days, a few more when having a beer at weekends, I did used to enjoy a good cigar but the price of a decent one always put me off, plus it was a little too much like smoking.

First couple of attempts with the pipe didn't go so well, either packing the tobacco too tightly or to loosely, but then on the 4th attempt I got it right!   ...OMG! I can fully see why old men used to go to the trouble and hassle of a pipe rather than cigarettes, it reminded very much of an evening when I was about 25 I was taken out for a good meal, we had good cigars and Port afterwards which was a revelation!

Smoking a pipe full with a couple of coffee's, over about an hour has got to count as one of the most relaxing and pleasant afternoons I have had in a long time and reminded me of smoking a really good £50+ cigar, looking at online reviews the tobacco I was smoking is ok, but isn't anything special and costs about 10 quid per 50g, but the flavour and experience was f**king amazing! I can see this becoming a hobby and normal cigarettes being kicked into touch altogether tbh.

Pipes where not cool since they all smoked them on topgear a few years ago, a huge bunch of bandwagoners got on board

I guess that's calmed down now again, get a churchwarden

DEViANCE

I stopped smoking monday :)  I had a good incentive though, had a coronary on Sunday or more precisely a myocardial infarction so they did a Coronary Balloon Angioplasty in my heart, so now I feel much better than I have for a while.

i think theres quite a few here who smoke a pipe...
unless they take their crack some other way.

Crack I stay away from but some good pot is ok and some tasty whiskey, stronger than that one should stay away from.
Now I need to find some good nicotine free smoke to mix with as nicotine is as hard to kick as heroine.

Just look how manly they look!  ...all dead now I would guess? but hell who want to live forever!

Do think it is something to do in the privacy of your own home to be fair :P I had a excellent smoke earlier after a late breakfast (fried!) with a rather good coffee!  :yarr:

My brother used to smoke a pipe, I never dabbled but I would consider. Like matt5cott, I'd get in at the deep end with a nice churchwarden :ptu:

Ordered one of these today:

Along with some nice tobacco The main reason for going for that pipe is that I can remember my Dad having one when I was very young back in the 70's :P plus it is cheap and hard wearing by pipe standards, some can be quite easy to damage and not suitable for newbies, might go for something a little more exotic if I get into it more :)
