Hey all.
Im pissed off and ill. Dad went down with a stomach bug on Sunday, and I was hoping it was food poisoning. Then mum was ill on Tuesday, and I was still hoping, as theyd both eaten some Ham just before getting it.

Well, today I rapidly got ill after getting to uni. Nasty stuff coming out of both ends.

But I digress. Whilst staring into the toilet bowl, I was wondering about vomitting and stuff. I dont remember ever getting "caught out" and puking on the floor and whatnot. Ive never really seen anyone else, except once.

It even got to the stage today where I was feeling pretty rough and decided to just lie down on the bathroom floor as I knew I wouldnt be able to sleep and if I tried Id only end up back by the toilet feeling like I was going to puke soon. But I felt fine as I sat there. Id had enough, felt lousy, and wanted to get a little sleep.

So, I mentally made myself puke, thinking about the toilet etc. No fingers or anything needed.

I came up with a theory as it seems I always seem to time it just right if Im about to vomit, I feel it coming but can safely hold back till I get to a toilet and get into position.

I was wondering if vomiting is a mostly mental trigger...people who do get caught out just get to the point where they believe theyre going to puke so much, they do, even if theyre not near a bucket or toilet? The amount of times Ive felt like I was going to be sick, but mentally refused to is quite large.

Just wondering if anyone has any theories or agrees with the above?

Jaimz

alcohol takes away a lot of the mental ability to time it, ive seen too many drunken mates vomit in untimely places and ive done it myself a couple of times.

as for genuine illness vomiting normally im the same and can hold it til im in a toilet but one time in year 9 i really was ill and needed to puke but the teacher wouldnt let me leave and i ended up vomming all over the wall above and into the waste paper bin.

Vomoting is a mental trigger to a large degree I think. You can control the urge if youre careful.

Just think about that wave of euphoria that hits you once youve chundered :)

I dont think it is.

Whenever ive been sick through illness its normally a case of "ugh I feel so ill... oh sh*t.. vomit!"

Ive had instances where I have failed to aim my head at a bucket I was holding in my hands.

As for Jaimz man I remember samcrasher :D

zpyder

But you were holding the bucket in your hands, which may be a trigger?

I guess the thing with alcohol might also apply to many illnesses which would impair judgement and thought processes maybe?

Quixoticish

Ive not been so sick that Ive puked since I was a little kid, and I dont tend to throw up after a heavy drinking session. Once or twice Ive felt a bit queasy for whatever reason and headed to the bathroom just in case but nothing, which leads me to wander about it being a mental trigger. If that was the case surely Id puke at the sight of the toilet just like everyone else?

What a bizarre conversation to be having. Good to have you back Zpyder.

I just dont think something like puking can be totally put down to "mental triggers"

I can make myself sick by thinking of queasy thoughts, I equally can make myself sick by shoving my fingers down my mouth which is a physical trigger.

So no, vomiting is not solely mental triggered. you may be able to keep it in, but thats just you and your stomach muscles.

Better out than in, thats what I say!

Most people can control it to a point but eventually you are almost inevitably going to puke.

Unless its purely psychological like something youve looked at.

Then again I was vomited on by a corpse and I my stomach didnt budge a millimetre...

Rivkid

would have agreed with you until last year during a gig I felt I was going to puke, ran from the stage, through the back area and into the toilet only to barf all over the floor before i reached the bowl!! Just could not hold it any longer. Generally though yes I know when its going to happen and can safely make the toilet in time.
Career, Wife, Mortgage... my sig was better when it listed guitars and PC's and stuff!

Those projectile vomiting zombies are a bugger arent they?

I guess it wouldnt be a purely mental trigger. But it has a part to play. I still think its a case of thinking "I feel like Im gonna be sick" which escalates to "Oh god I am going to be sick" to "Im going to be sick, sh*t" which gets stronger and stronger. At some point that sick feelings going to be so strong you just feel "Right, its here its coming " *Splurge* regardless of where you are.

My one example of missing the toilet/bucket was at Chessington bubbleworks when an adult friend had sun or heat stroke I think. She was dizzy and a little out of it and we were on a dark ride bouncing up and down on water with weird lighting. Didnt help much. She must have felt pretty rough and knew that itd be a while before getting somewhere to puke, and so it went over the side. I bet that waters recyled into the sprays etc too ><

A friend ate a corpse once. Well, a bit of a corpse. Tastes like pork apparently.

It sounds a bit like out of zombie flesh eaters - except it wasnt. The bloke was definitely dead and it was entirely a mechanical action on the body
s part. I havent went into it in any detail as most find the full version a bit gross.

Its all protein, not much difference between a human and a pig anyway. The thing most people have against the idea is psychological and belief.

/pulls out a bar of Cadburys

Chocolate fingers anyone? :D

Meta beat me to it :) and I have only been to one samcrasher :)

For me self I do seldom puke and if I do being drunk or buy a bug of some kind I can always keep it in until I find a proper place to discharge the load at, it can reach the cavity of my mooth but by an act of will power I will not part my lips until I find a proper place.
