As well as neice, nephew, other baby neice (kids) , one brother, younger sister and other sister and brother in law who came to get the kids bit later.

Was a lot to take in, very nervous, Brought oysters, orchid for her mum, oranges (fruit for luck).
It all seemed to go ok, kids liked me and apparently normally shy, mum and dad did smiles, brother seemed to like me.

This was a big step, Janya finally told them on Tuesday... see where things go from here. 2 and a half years in the making today was.

'o) - thats a long time to wait to meet the parents.
My mate lives in shanghai & has a local girlfriend, all their initial dates the mother tagged along.
some strange customs... on the downside, thats at least 7 (at my count) more xmas presents you need to buy for.

Bacon mate, They exactly what they like for first meeting - right things. Oranges as well are for good look. Had to do things like present them with both hands as one hand is bad look etc.

Janyas parents are rich, not as they used to be as they got hurt in a big market crash but they are in a 1.2 million dollar house etc so it pretty huge. Asian kids basically stay in family home till they get married etc as well and very family oriented.

Yeah egg, now more things to get at xmas, but it means no sneaking around. I have not been able to post facebook pics of us or when Have they been locked down to a few friends, any parties Janya used to ask people to remove pictures of us clearly together etc.
Hopefully they like me and things can go on. If all goes well I will see her dad about the proposal in September.

They can do. My Persian friend from school was seeing a Chinese girl. He went over to china to meet the parents and they were amiable enough, but there was A LOT of East Vs West stuff going on, the dad taking him on in drinking games, or getting him to run up the mountain steps as the locals do it several times a day etc. his stories about his trip over there put me off visiting china
