Basically i was lied to when i accepted my present job.

They described it as a technical 1st line.  In other words mainly 1st line, but i was told i would be doing some project work, and i would also be doing some 2nd line.   Seemed about right for the wage they where offering.

As it turns out its what i would call a "classic" 1st line.  Call logging and password resets.  Ive been offered a job on 2.5k less, but working for a smaller company in a more varied role.  The minus sides are the obvious drop in wages (15k instead of 17.5), less holidays, more hours and less benefits.  The plusses are a company car (wont be taxed as its officially a pool car), More varied role and more chance to learn new skills.

id leave, but then im bias cos i freakin hate 1st line

knighty

go for the second one and be happy !

show them how aswom you are and get more money / change jobs again later on ;)

plus... youll pretty much get that 2.5k back with the free car !   (depreciation, tat, insurance, maintenance etc..)

Ditch the job. Tell them the job wasnt as advertised and that yove had an offer you cant refuse.

In smaller companis you tend to get more responsibility and a more varied job and you get treat like a person. Bigger companies - youre just a number and set of stats to them.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Just go for what makes you happy at the end of the day thats all that matters.

I agree.

madmax

aye youll only resent not leaving in the future if the job isnt challenging / satesfying

mr_roll

If you also go for the 2nd line if you ever go for 2nd line jobs in the future itll look better :)

Get another job, then quit.

Rivkid

Take it!!!

Ive just had to do the same. Left 17.5K working IT sales to work for BT iNet internal systems as network admin on 14K. The wages suck but I love the job and the amount Im learning and experience Im gaining is worth a lot more to me.

Career, Wife, Mortgage... my sig was better when it listed guitars and PC's and stuff!
