This new series is meaner, it starts on  Tuesday at 9pm.

21:00  Bad Lads Army: Extreme
New series. A fresh cohort of Britains toughest troublemakers get a taste of military discipline, undergoing Fifties-style paratroop training to knock them into shape. From the off they struggle with gruelling runs, exercises and a challenging leap from a moving truck. The harsh regime soon starts to break spirits as hardman Aiden Chaffe discovers he isnt as tough as he thought and armed robber Colin Elliot ends up in the guardhouse for smashing up the cookhouse

the first people to complain about national service are the armed forces, we have a volunteer army, and as such its quality is as good as it can be.  If you throw a load of muppets with no desire to be there ito the mix we end up with a 2nd rate army, even though its bigger.

They can do the six month training and then go into other areas than front line troops. As has been mentioned digging ditches is one option, reinforcing the sea defences is another. The Themes barrier is going to need replacing with a bigger option sooner rather than later so a lot of them could be put to work on that.

erm that makes no sense at all

firstly you dont need 6 months training to dig ditches - secondly you dont need to make people join the army to do that - just get them doing it anyway & let HM prison service supervise

Serious

You do need six months to do basic army training though and get them reasonably fit for digging

You might even find that some of them are good enough to go into the real army.

Dave

completely pointless & would be a waste of money & resources

Serious

Not as costly as if some of them injuring themselves and suing the government though.

in what way - because they need 6 months of army training in order to dig ditches? - erm doubt it - heard of construction workers before?

plus if you think they wouldnt sue for getting injured while doing phase 1 training then youre pretty naive as to what is involved

Brilliant good stuff, the old Sarge.Rae is there aswell, the lads will find it very hard this time, the Sarge threatening to straighten the lad up with his truncheon, CLASSIC.

Dave

that was quite funny

especially that waste of space who quit at the start - marched him up to the posh 1950s army officer - "robbery, theft, and scrounging on the dole - I cant stand your sort!"

also that skinny worm who was acting all hard & going on about how he once trashed a shop etc.. seemed quite scared when shut in a locker + was a bit of a mincer when it came to jumping off the 4 tonner - cant wait to see him get a bit emotional when they properly break him
