from what I understand, while everyone was sitting wearing shorts and t-shirts two shady looking asians board the plane wearing big jackets and wooly jumpers. Im not surprised people got abit spooked. i would have.

Quote from: matt5cottIf you read the article they where behaving oddly, to be perfectly honest if I saw two stereotypical (like it or not there is a stereotype associated with terrorists) walking up and down the queue, joining the front, then the back, id certainly be raising an eyebrow.

from the article:
Quote"Anyway, we got on the plane and we boarded and it became apparent after we were already supposed to be flying that several of the passengers had refused to board the craft.

"A few rumours went round, it was a little bit like Chinese whispers, and then some more people decided they were getting off."

chinese wispers causing mass hysteria tbh... & some arab types looking rather nervour because an entire plane is staring at them & giving them the once over.

so some chavs heard them speaking a "foreign language" & assumed that because they were darked skinned & spoke funny they must be arabs & therefore terrorists - as far as they knew they could have been speaking urdu, hindi, whatever - this rumour then gets passed round the rest of the passengers & they all start staring - tbh.. Id be pretty nervous if I was  a dark skinned arab looking person and half a council estate was pissed up on a plane & giving me evil looks.

then they all start klicking off, protesting & getting off the plane - no doubt the arab looking blokes are going to get even more nervous

*remember that eye witnesses reported the brazilian shot on the underground as wearing a "big bulky coat" & "having wires coming out" etc.. Id hardly give these chav types much credibility with thier reports of these arab looking guys acting suspiciously when they are being stared at by an entire palne & the rumours are already being passed about.

Almost all of that is just wild speculation.

So peoples nervousness automatically brands them racist?

Agreed this has spiralled out of control as a result of speculation; although people are scared and have every right of wanting to feel safe.  I am not a comfortable flyer at the best of times; although if I was boarding a plane and that kicked off I would be really concerned.  Not because I am a racist, just that I was concerned!

yeah well it turned out to be pretty accurate speculation:

the arab types werent even arabs -  they were asians and were speaking urdu - what a surprise!

QuoteKhurram said: "We just didnt twig. Why would we? Then we heard a child crying. I looked around and there was a girl of about 12 looking at me, pointing and crying.

"Her parents were putting their arms around her protectively and staring at us."

"One minute we were sitting quietly, looking forward to getting home, the next we were being bundled off."

Sohail added: "My first reaction was to laugh when I was told why we had been taken off the plane. Then I realised they were deadly serious."

The pair, studying for degrees at Manchesters Umist institution, believe the scare was sparked by an elderly lady sitting nearby.

Khurram said: "We were chatting away in Urdu and she kept looking at us.

"At first I didnt really take any notice. I just thought perhaps shed never seen an Asian person before."

Sohail added: "She had to move to let us sit down and I knew straight away that something was bothering her.

"I tried my best to ignore her but she started asking me questions like where we lived and how long we had been in Malaga.

"When I told her we had only gone for the day she became even more suspicious. She kept saying that was a strange thing to do.

"Suddenly she got up and walked toward the cockpit."

The woman told cabin crew she feared for her safety and other passengers on the Manchester-bound Monarch jet joined the mutiny. Six travellers not even on the jet heard of the scare in the early hours of last Wednesday and refused to board while those already in their seats raced for the exits.

as I said before - typical chavs

Not necessarily but nervousness leads to fear and people dont like fear so they will get angry then refuse to get on a plane with two coloured people.....

rofl... racist old people are the worst.

His father has a point, if the passenger doesnt want to fly, then they can get off and not fly, rather than take off two people who were "seen acting suspiciously" by a bunch of chavs and an old granny in a strop for having to move to allow a pair of black people to sit down.

That mirror article is laughable, its just more speculation on an already speculative article, whats more, its intentionally written to make out that everyone on that plane was in the wrong.

Its lovely how theres one teeny tiny passage right at the end of a complete article on how a plane full of 150 racists kicked off two innocently singled out men, that actually gives a passenger perspective.

Heres another thing for you to mull over, me being a racist and all, if this quote is true (from your beloved mirror article)

The incident is the latest in a series that has seen innocent British Asians wrongly branded jet terror suspects. (at the bottom, it quotes a massive... 2 other incidents, oh no)

Then why, on a passenger jet full of brits would you speak Urdu? Its an obvious fact that people dont like it when youre speaking a language they cant understand, its just another catalyst for incidents like this!

Quote from: M3ta7h3adrofl... racist old people are the worst.

Why?

Theres only an incinuation that the old lady was being racist, and that was the point of view of the terrorists

The old ladies not even quoted or given a chance to defend or put her point of view across, funny that.

mrt

Also, why did the airline clear the plane and have all the baggage etc searched, if it was not suspect?  It was not just the passengers which were alarmed?

They have had longer to entrench their beliefs and theirs has been tested by time, its on a similar line to you cant teach an old dog new tricks.

Hes got it...

I my grandad was a racist until he died. Nothing could be said by anyone to change their opinions.

I think it was prob the spanish police who did that

a suspected terrorist incident has occured involving a shed load of people - they are obliged to follow it up & carry out all thier procedures

funny that - since all the people on the plane were in fact.... wrong!

given that a large part of it is simply quoting two innocent students whereas the other press accounts are of various people trying to justify racist behavour or carrying on with whatever chinese whispers theyd heard that made them refuse to board the plane/get off the plane

I think Id trust the asian lads account more tbh...

Yeah good call, if you see someone acting suspiciously you should totally keep your mouth shut just so people like you dont call them a racist.

Hell Id obviously rather die in a burning fireball of a plane wreckage than be branded a racist for looking out for myself...

You really should consider a career in the press, your inability to to see both sides of the story would make for excellent journalism in the fight against the white man. Hell in 5 years or so, when racism in this country has got to the point where a white man cant even use the word blackboard without doing 6 months jail time and being branded a racist for life, you can look back and say, I helped do that
