There is no tech general chat on the forums and this applies to media and entertainment as well as the gaming.
We all know Sony has been in a bit of a finacial mess across the board with the money sunk into blu ray and the gaming side doing piss poor at the moment and all the development money sunk into the PS3 not doing anywhere near as well as they thought it would.
That and some other areas even though the actual media entertainment side is doing well itself the other areas have caused losses at Sony.

Now though a big chunk of Sony has been sold but not much more details on that as yet.
Quite interesting though
You must be seeing different financial figures to me from Sony...
Theyre not making a huge amount in the gaming sector but thats not where Sony make their cash. They dont seem to be struggling financially at all if anything a massive investment purchase only shows that a major player thinks Sony is a long term good bet and making lots of money.
they didnt sell a big chunk of their company, an investor just bought a ton of shares as a long term investment. Theyre gambling that Sony will make lots of money over a long period.

check one of the other sony threads in the game section, if not ill try to find a couple becuase there is a few links there from even Sony people admitting to huge losses as well as one I posted about its large finical losses in regard to the gaming department and also the possible closure of Sony Station
Things like the revamp attempt of star wars galaxies for example have cost and had no return
I think the gaming was a loss of $1.71 billion in march this year if I remember rightly and more links about the losses posted on forums even with healthy tv and other media bits in the black.

Shows a steady rise in value since 2003... Sony Corp is huge. Theyre not a one product company. Sony could probably just about survive not shipping a single PS3 or game and still pay all the development costs through their other ventures.
