Am I the only person thinking youd need to learn Japanese before you can teach Japanese people to speak English? From a purely practical point of view?

Quixoticish

They have a lot of schools set up over there where people can go to learn to speak further English and get to grips with the nitty gritty of the language; the people youd be teaching would probably already be fairly competent English speakers. The only downside with this approach is that your English has to be fairly good to begin with and youd have to be able to pass a test to make sure you were up to scratch but for 90% of the population that wouldnt be a problem.

IF I could get out there with my Quals then I would learn basic Japanese to begin with though.

Deaths Head

This idea reminds me of a book I read quite a while ago.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Angry-White-Pyjamas-Oxford-Trains/dp/0575401249/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1196035376&sr=1-9

The book starts off with him teaching on a holiday VISA and he has to quickly arrange something to be able to stay in the country.

Probably heard that theres no age limit and hes after some very young nookie that would be illegal in the UK?

*actually this is probably out of date information I have no idea really*

F*** Sake! Degrees prove NOTHING except you spent 3 or 4 years in a classroom.

i disagree with that.

some of the girls i know out here are doing a language degree/linguistics degree so they can speak the "native" language, so if the kids dont get it, they can tell them what they are teaching.
