Post by: Sam on February 03, 2008, 22:07:07 PM
I am off to watch Superbowl 42. I am being dragged there, but there will be alcohol and cakes provided so all is not lost.

going to the actual game? or watching it in a pub?

Its a good game.. dont view as a sport, view it as a game of chess & youll appreciate more.
Its a thinking mans game.

Im want to stay up & watch it, but im absolutely shattered after yesterday.
14 hour drinking session, a roll in the hay & 4 hours sleep.. my body cant take the toll anymore  :gag:

Was in town and heard massive cheers here in the UK, asked a guy and had a chat then a beer and found out what happened (you just can do that here and have it done to you, random people chatting like your m8es no problem, had  a girl at the pet shop, talked to her for ages today, anna)

It has to be.
Theres no transfer market & all clubs have to work with is their income. Their income decides what their salary cap is.

Hence theres adverts whenever they can squeeze one in. - Obviously it would be better to show replays, etc. of Key moments in these breaks, but it just dont happen.

I sat up and watched it. I thought it was quite a good game tbh :o

I was starting to get annoyed around 3am though, when the final 30seconds took over half an hour to complete...*rar*

Id love to go to the live event. The half time show is always brilliant (imo ofc) :)

The game lasts 60 minutes. It started @ 6:30 and we left just after 10. What does that say about how many adverts there were.

Not bad I've seen the Superbowl a few times now but I've not really appreciated it much before, but this time understanding the rules and the tactics of the game a bit more than previous times I started to enjoy it a lot more, still not a patch on Rugby though.

No idea what you mean, American football is for puffs, all that Armour for the same impacts rugby players get and not as fit as you have the rolling 2 teams off and on the pitch and the long breaks in between short bursts of game, just like most us sports, lots of nothing with the odd little thing in between

You wouldnt say that to the guys that play it.

Its sport, therefore Ill watch it. (As an aside, Martin Johnson is a massive gridiron fan, and I cant imagine you catch him at the ballet very often).

Not seen a certain video involving dancing, him and other rugby players then :)
Met Johnson many times myself
I am not up to scratch but already lost an inch off my waist and 6 pack coming back quite quickly being here so when I am sorted in a few months back to a rugby level of fitness and physique (although I cant play till another op on my hand) I will go up to a US football player and call them a panzy :) but only to one who has not got a gun or knife (which would be hard, lol)

It is a great event a football game but I would not really call it a sport compared to others, footballers even work harder and baseball oh dear.

Your having a laugh? Id love to see a rugby player get hit from any direction, (usually by more than 1 guy) when they are 2-3 feet in the air & still get up & walk away.

go find a team http://www.logoserver.com/NzAFL.html & give a try, I think you might really enjoy it Nexus.

The only thing it has in common with rugby is the shape of the ball.
