Im planning on getting a tribal rose vine tattoo on the outside of my left arm, from shoulder to elbow.

How much should I expect it to cost?

Cheers

depends on the size of the tat, which depends on the size of your arm.  Most decent places charge for time, not the complexity of the tat.  Also a Good tat artists wont give you a quote online, theyll insist on seeing you in person so they can be more exact about it.

youll regret it when youre 60 and its starting to shrivel up and the ink has faded

I agree with all above comments,  Be unique, and dont do it.

My missus came home with one, I didnt talk to her for a week.

See, thing is I like tats, ive got one myself on my upper arm.  Ive no problems with them except for the fashionista tats like the black rose on the shoulder, or the tribal on the lower back.  Ill be getting my left arm done at some point soon, im having The Punishment of Loki done, and i may go for Ygdrassil on my back, though its going to cost rather a lot of cash for that.

Tat = cool, tribal not tbh.

Cost varies - I was looking into it a while back. It depends on the artist and how big you want it.

Ahh, forget the tattooing, heres the painful part. The cost.
It is very hard to tell you how much a tattoo will cost, without seeing it. I can give you an idea though.

My minimum price is £25, I do not do any tattoo for less, as I use completely new and sterile needles and fresh sterile equiptment for every customer, and this covers costs.

A chinese symbol, small black tribal or red heart will cost you £25-£40

2 chinese symbols will cost you £30

A small shaded devil will cost you £30-£60

A floral bottom back with tribal, £60-£75

A top arm tribal £50 - £250?

All prices are estimated.

Basically my prices are as right as I can get them. I do not like to be too dear or too cheap.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Tattoos rule, ignore all these people with no taste/too scared to get one.

Tribal sucks balls though, really, are you in a tribe? Tribal is dated, and makes me laugh when i see with it.

A rose is timeless though. Seriously, anyone in the tattoo community will laugh at you if you got tribal, I was talking to my tattoo-ist about it and she said she finds it really hard to keep a straight face. Its a fashion thing (a slightly dated fashion thing) thats why people think its stupid.

If you really like tribal, I understand, but you have to realise that a lot of people get tribal as a senseless fashion statement, and people are gunna think youre that kind of idiot when they see tribal on you.

as for cost, usually the more expensive, the better job youll get.

Infection and stuff is really rare tbh, from a proper tattoo establishment, but over the years you start to notice the wobbly lines and bad colouring, its worth paying top dollar tbh, after all itll be there all your life, youll have plenty of time to judge it. I got a cheapo one when I was 18, and although i love the design still (pacman) the wobbly lines annoy me, one day ill probably get it re-done better.

you just said tattoos rock and then that the most popular style looks dated.  Youd have to assume theyll all look dated over a long enough time frame like... you know... your life.

Im pro tattoos tbh but theyre so damn common I lost interest.  Especially in the rock/ska/punk world.  Not having a tattoo is the one that stands out.

The whole point is once someone has a tattoo its going to get dated anyway, 99% of them are dated already so it isnt worth getting one on the basis of fashion.

sorry i must of not made it clear, what im saying is there are certain tattoo trends or fashions, like chinese letters or tribal or wings or tigerheads, etc. Any tattoo that is  purely because "everybody has them at the moment" gets dated (soon enough it goes out of fashion).

old school tats like a rose, is like the corner stone of the tattoo industry, obviously the physical tattoo will become dated, but the art of it never will, old school tattoos are about the art of tattoo itself.

The best solution is to get something deeply personal.

plus, when you have a tattoo, its quite a good chat up line, cos everybody always says "what made you get that, what does it mean" if your answer is "everybody was doing it" or "I thought it looked good in the shop". Well personally id think you were an idiot.

Take the time to think about the design, dont get a fashiontat.

oh & make sure its coverable, no neck tats or hand tats, silly silly mistake.

Walrusbonzo

There is plenty of time to change my mind before the appointment.

TBH, I do think Tribal is a bit too unoriginal for me, so most likely Ill come up with something else.
