Worried about someone pinching your car? Try this.
A Tesla coil on top of a real performance machine (a Hyundai Getz).
I hired it overnight as I dont own a car.
Details here (http://tesladownunder.com/tesla_coil_sparks.htm). This is a 31 second single exposure and is not photoshopped in any way.
My son is quite safe in there even if he is a little unsure.

now that is awesome
that... is bloody cool! :D
that is beyond cool
now what would be REALLY neat would be if you had taken another shot from the same spot but with the car gone and photoshoped them so that the car was apearing through a time portal of some kind.
or maybe Ive just seen back to the future one too many times
amazing!
Very very cool.
That rocks, I bet your son has a good view inside the car, even if he is bricking it
You know rental firms will now have to start inserting a new clause in their hire contracts:
7 b) iii) Absolutely not to be used in conjunction with Tesla coils or other such scientific equipment.
Seriously though, really nice photo.
Not quite as subtle as a bond car security system, but sure damn effective.

Theres a South African company that make flame throwers that shoot from under the doors to stop pedestrians trying to ambush cars when they stop at traffic lights or junctions. Another one does a high power car taser, gives the attempted robber a good tickle, but probably not as good as that would...
Incredible! Reminds me of the lightning shield from Flash Gordon. :D
The photo is taken with a rod attached to the Tesla coil which is bent down near the ground to which it is sparking. Now imagine rotating it to form a ring on time lapse.
The bright yellowish upper ring is in fact my wooden counterweight catcing fire. I was worried that it might release the counterweight, unbalance everything and bring the whole coil setup crashing down... but I pressed on with the final shot.
Photo is taken during construction.

may i ask,
have you made a cannon which can shoot lighting bolts?
You may ask.
But of course I would have to kill you if I told you....
