Think of it as being popular.

They have just been bidding their time stalking u in the darkness    

If its a hotmail or yahoo account use the filter and report every spam you get. My hotmail one is set to ditch anything that isnt in my known sender list into the spam bin and I report anything that isnt mail I want.

I use GMail here

never had to report anything... nowt has ever made it to my inbox, only the spam folder.

dunno why people use the likes of hotmail  

...must say, title of thread made me think that Brummie had a NIP on the way after cruising through a camera too fast or something

I get plenty of gif spam in my Gmail inbox. 717 pieces of junk in the spam folder. :shock:

LOL yeah maybe the title wasnt the best

I use hotmail still as ive given that out over 6 years or there abouts IIRC

but mainly give out gmail now as its size means i can store more

Then its just as likely that one of the spammers found you than someone gave your mail addy over. I regularly get a few but with everything arranged as it is I normally just look at the list and click report and delete for each one.

Occasionally I do have a look into one, being curious, or for phishing spam I visit and put in some nasty words...  

Out of the thousands of spam mails that have been delivered to me I have never bought anything so I guess spammer hope springs eternal :/

looks like ill have to start the process of closing that account down

Use outlook or Thunderbird, and POPFILE.

Can vouch for this, just installed it on my dads works laptop. Hes been getting 100s of spams a day on his email account for some reason, but now after a little bit of training he gets nowt well.. none that he has to deal with at any rate.

but alas....

anyway i use imap for the rest so no can do :cry:

you can get plugins to download hotmail, and imap is supported too.

i never get spam with gmail... hotmail is utterly, utterly useless, apart from using the addresses to register for junk etc.
