Jesus. Pretty savage. 16 does look young, but often no younger than 18 looks.

Yeah, while youre chatting a lass up in a nightclub you say "Excuse me, but before i stick my dick in you, can you prove your age?".

Seems more harsh to us though because our age of consent is lower than most of the US as I understand it.

thing to remember is, the guy was only 19 at the time.... so 16 wouldn;t look so young to him ?

for most of us who are a bit older... 18 is too young anyway ?

I used to go out with a girl who was 20..... she didnt look that young... but if shes put a school uniform on she could have probably passed for 16 easy :s

The age limit at the club was 18 he had really noreason to questions her age as under 18 was not allowed at the club
so she probably looked more than 16 in age as she managed to be in the club.

Young girls all look older these days, taller, bigger boobs, etc. Most 16 year olds in a club could pass for 18 easily, were only talking two years of age.

In a lot of European countries its as low as 14.

Though in Vatican State/City its 12.  :disappointed:

Exactly.
You got that, fact she used false ID, Lied, Proved to Lie and so on, in a ton of ways this guy has been shown to actually really be the victim here and it was NOT HIS FAULT. But as soon as you say "He f**ked a girl of illegal age" in some form to a judge they just think "guilty".
If this case was just his word against hers its another matter but the facts all laid out how on earth can he be treated that way. His life is f**ked up because... well, I can not work out how they will not even clear his name,  that sucks balls.

If anyone does not believe this...

http://www.avert.org/age-of-consent.htm

Main problem I have with the US in this is they dont have a standard age of consent. So in one state you might be OK if they are 14 but in another you get locked up if they are 17.

Note
Quote# In some U.S. states a lower age applies when the age gap between partners is small, or when the older partner is below a certain age (usually 18 or 21).
and
QuoteIt is illegal for an American citizen or resident to have sex in another country with someone aged under 16, unless the age difference is less than 4 years, in which case the minimum age is 12.

While I do have sympathy for the fella, you need to be so careful these days regarding girls ages. If you make one mistake it can stick with you for the rest of your life and ruin you. So it really is in your interest to be 100% sure, and if youre not well then you just dont go there. Personally, Id probably not do anything until youve maybe met their friends/parents and can confirm their age.

Would you rather miss out on a quick shag, or end up in prison with a stigma attached to you for the rest of your life?

true, But how many people go to a club, have a good time, meet a girl and wake up next to her the next morning? A LOT of people. You may see her more you may not.

IF your in a club, drinking, she is drinking then that Club has let her in under the condition she is over 18 and should be checking her ID or/and checking it properly. It does not remove your own responsibilities as you say but your in an over 18 club and getting drunk, your not thinking that in depth.

Very easily because these girls are young is to regret it and as kids do they will lie, so if to get out of a whole or try and hide a mistake they will lie and they will only ever think about themselves at first and not making parents angry is on their mind. So it is very easy to cry RAPE or sexual abuse or being taken advantage of and not think about what it does to the guy. Even when it goes as far as court, the young girl will not want to admit anything negative her end and will go with the lies to hide that.

And because they are young girls and cry RAPE it is very easy for people including judges and jury to label a guy as the evil monster or one in the wrong.
In tough cases where it is just one persons word over another it is really hard and really tough to know the truth, but sadly most go with the one crying out abuse/rape.

When you see cases like this with all the evidence to stack up to not the guys fault at all and then to still see this go the other way is just really bad.

Really, no1 should ever let themselves be put in that kind of position. Relying on the kindness/fairness of others to get you out of a bind just isnt going to work
