Lunchtime today, Vulcan XH558 finally took to the air for the first of 3 test flights. Wish Id been there....

Beaker

One of the most beautiful planes ever.  Nice to see they got one back in the air. :D

Serious

I always thought that the V bombers and fighters were amongst the most graceful of planes. TBH Britain does not have a long, or even medium range bomber in service any more.

Im glad that another one is back flying again :)

Quixoticish

There should be some better footage appearing shortly, the news coverage was pretty dire and inaccurate to say the least.

Mongoose

/me jumps up and down with glee

hurray!

cant wait to see it up close.

Ive just finished reading Vulcan 607, which is an account of the first Black Buck raid on Port Stanley in the Falklands. Supposedly it recounts events as close to exactly as they happened as can be achieved, but it reads like a novel. Absolutely amazing. If someone had written something like it into a fictional story youd put it down in disgust as totally unrealistic, but it actually happened.
