Just saw Charlie Boorman has set off for his next adventure - By Any Means

QuoteThe star of last years Long Way Down series has been undergoing a rigorous training regime in preparation for the journey which will see him travel all the way to Sydney using any means of transport, other than commercial aircraft.

Boorman will use means of transport appropriate to the countries that he visits including steam train, horse, boat, dugout canoe, cargo boat, motorcycle sidecar and tuk-tuk.

The latest expedition will be filmed for a six-part series to be broadcast on BBC Two in the autumn.

The journey will include a crossing of the Black Sea, trekking through Nepal, riding elephants in Laos and hiking through the forests of Borneo. He is due to arrive in Australia in mid-August. The unique expedition will provide the opportunity to meet fascinating people and explore extraordinary places including Serbia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Nepal and China. It will also provide Boorman with the chance to continue his long-standing association with the worlds leading childrens organisation UNICEF who he will join along the way as they deliver life saving vaccinations and supplies to children in remote and isolated communities.

Seen a lot of hostility towards him on various biker forums - asking why hes doing it. Seems stupid to me - no one ever asks Palin that question...

Ill be watching it anyway - and buying the book.  8-)

Career, Wife, Mortgage... my sig was better when it listed guitars and PC's and stuff!

Quixoticish

Ive been following Charlie Boormans stuff since Long Way Round, to be honest Long Way Down was a bit of a disappointment (although that was mostly due to Ewan McGregor than Boorman) and I have to admit I loved watching the Dakar Rally program he made. Ill certainly be watching. Hes always been the star of the show and is far more enjoyable to watch.

Agreed - couldnt get into LWD like I did LWR. Race to Dakar was just awesome though both the book and the show.
