i have 2 mobos , one is using the nforce 550 chipset and the other the is using the amd 480x chipset . which should give better performance (no longer going crossfire)

gigabyte mobo

or

asrock mobo

If i was looking then I would get the Astrock out of the two.  However i would also consider the AMD 7x0 series chipsets if you want a new board.  IIRC you can get the MSI ones for about the same price as those.  If you only want a singe PCI-e slot the 770 series boards are cheap as chips, and the 65nm on the chipset is rather more power efficent than the 480 series 90nm process.  Also, the 480 goes to 8x PCI-e if you drop 2 cards in it.  need thr 580 in that gen if you want to keep them both running at 16x.

i am running the x2 6000+ 125w  atm , not all the new boards support this cpu :( . should i just sell both these mobos and get one of the 770 chipset boards ?

sorry hadnt slep for nearly 28 hours at that point.  Heh, didnt click that you already had these boards.  You would be better off for a no-cost option on the nforce I would think.  The 480 chipset is OK, but you cant really Crossfire it anyway unless you dont mind the cards running at 8x PCI-e.  If you only have a single GFX card then the 480 will run at 16x though.  Plus, the Gbyte board has plenty of PCI-e 1x slots as well.

Sorry for the confusion.

The reson i changed my mind was I looked more deeply at the specs. The gigabyte has a better overall feature set.

i tried the gigabyte board , it did not like my memory (corsair xms2 ddr2 6400 @2.1v) , changed back to my asrock board with no problem lol . i have decided to try crossfire again (even though it will run @2 x 8)
