Is it me or has recently Firefox has been using just about 100% CPU usage while on YouTube on my laptop? It doesnt happen constantly but say if i am watching a video on YouTube, every 20 seconds or so Firefox will seem to use 100% of the CPU usage and the whole browser will really slow down and so will the video and then suddenly it will all go back to normal again with only 5% of the CPU being used and the video wil run fine untill 20 seconds later again it will do the same thing again. This never used to happen on my laptop its only seen happening for the past couple of days. Is anyone else having the same problem or is there something up with my laptop or is there some sort of fix?

Thanks - Liam

Pete

Try Opera or IE, does it do the same thing?

I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Firefox has been doing this for me for ages on flash/javascript heavy sites. I cant wait for FF3 to come out propeply.

When you actually use them properly not by a long shot, ff just has some issues and their focus is on releasing firefox 3 as the fix rather then the full fix for 2.
No roadmap has been put down for beta 6 so people think the release is weeks away now.

Quick one, are you using AVG Version 8?

If so you may want to disable the linkscanner add-on in the firefox addons.  I had the same issue, and disabling th elinkscanner fixes it.  Dont disable it in AVG itself, or it annoyingly gives you a warning.

It is ok but at home I use FF but at work I use the U3 version of opera on my USB stick as they do not allow you to install stuff at work like flashplayer etc. which is annoying but opera has it built in somehow and I can watch youtube at work with out having to install anything.
