im pretty damn sure you can disable the autoplay on removable drives somewhere in xp. Damned if I can remember where though!

I did it somehow, for when I plug in my mass-storage camera under XP. Cant for the life of me remember how.

With Gnome its System/Preferences/Removable Drives and Media. Easy.

XP is full of annoying popups

Start -> Run

gpedit.msc

Administrative Templates -> System

Find "Turn off Autoplay", double click, enable it and then in the drop down box choose "all drives".

Tried it and put a stick and got the pop up seems to work with the CD players only.

You have used more time complaining about it in this thread than just doing what I said!
