my camera died a while back and i keep meaning to get a new one.... had a bit of a play with them in curries while I was stuck in terminal 5 for a few hours and quite likes this one.....

any ideas / input before I buy one ?


I know naff all about digital cameras.... just want something small and half decent 8-)

Nice camera, although not 100% convinced with image quality - think there is a level where too many megapixels requires some better hardware to drive them.  I bought the same one for my wife (but dark red one) a few months back.  No where near as good as my old little point and click Nikon.  

I do like my Casio EX-Z1050.

I didnt think to check that (Id just got off an 8 hour flight so was pretty nackered).... i used to hate my old camera when Id have to wait forever between taking pics while it caught up

looks pretty good. I still contend they would have done better to stop at 6mp and use the same NR tech to give you ISO 3200 in a usable state, but clearly camera manufacturers dont agree with me (because clearly they should listen to everything I say and act accordingly!!!! lol) But for a 12MP marketing machine it produces pretty decent photos.

It takes pictures very quickly.

Pros
Looks really nice
Big screen
Loads of inbuilt modes (portrait, firework, nighttime, youtube etc.)
Dark Red (well your one is silver)

Cons
Motor sounds a bit odd when zooming (is this a con?, just does not sound like it would last, but that may be nothing)
Pictures look a tad over exposed or blown highlights (in auto - and several tests, inside, outside all the same).
Lastly, when you transfer them over to a PC to view, they are nowhere near as good as couple of 5/6mp photos taken on cheaper cameras.

Personally think, its a nice cam for a lady (or someone who just wants some bog standard hol flicks), but if you want something a bit better shop around.

Personally, I would buy the below (100% feedback and trusted UK seller)

Camera is really nice, great wide angle on it and also top zoom!  OK its a bit bigger than the other one, but it looks the biz in the flesh.

hmmm, Ill nip into a shop sometime and have a play with one.... I take naff all photos, its just a camera comes in handy now and again :-)
