Is there such thing as adjustable zoom binoculars ( as in, able to zoom in and out abit like a digital camcorder but without the recording ?)

Yep, and there have been quite a few available, just goto ebay and search photography/binoculars and telescopes for zoom binoculars

Most camera shops will sell them as do the likes of aldi and netto when they get some on offer.

On very cheap ones the optics are not really very good, but expect to pay from £20 up to a couple of hundred depending on make and quality.
