Went for a day out with the GF and her parents (first time I met her Dad but thats not relevent). Went to Hillier Gardens (http://www3.hants.gov.uk/hilliergardens), Mottisfont (http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/mottisfont/) and titchfield haven (http://www3.hants.gov.uk/titchfield).

I took the 50D and 100-400 L which I used exclusivly for the full day, no filters.

The full set is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/12512629@N07/sets/72157629097422406/

A few I picked out:

Titchfield Haven is just down the road from me (I've been round Titchfield village itself which is quite nice) but I'll have to take the time to go down there one weekend judging by those photos :)

Certainly looks a good lens, nice range and certainly seems to be sharp enough too I can see it being a really good wildlife/walk about lens.

The 100-400 range is one that nikon doesn't really cover too well, there is the 80-400 which is around the same price but it apparently isn't great and is due a refresh sometime soon.

The 100-400L is an astonishing lens for the money.
