Recommend me a camera for £100?

Hey guys and girls,

I dont frequent this place as much as I used to but I do read up on new posts whenever possible.

Im after a easy to use digital camera for a complete novice, for a Christmas present.
As im on a budget, il set it to Ã,£100. Then I can get them some other gifts too.

I was looking on pixmania.com and they appear to have some bargains, but Im not sure what are gimmicky features and whats a good spec.

Any help greatfully appreciated :)

I think the Fuji Finepix are great P&S cameras. Amazon has a few under your budget. The build quality is great on the cheaper models as long as you dont mind a bit of bulk.

Career, Wife, Mortgage... my sig was better when it listed guitars and PC's and stuff!

lol mine still sort of works after 4/5 years :P still abit dodgy after 9 festivals and everything else but works ;)

Got the Fuji S5600 waiting for me at Christmas which should last me awhile, in fact just checked the Argos website and it looks like its back down to Ã,£112... Go get one :P

If you want something that will not only cosset you with ease of use but let you expand your frontiers in easy stages then the s5600 is ideal. Only issue is its bigger than the average compact and more a hobbyist camera.

Ive almost convinced myself to buy the old man a Fuji A700; it can be had from Jessops for Ã,£129.99 and they price match the web too...

Dont forget if you decide to buy the Fuji from Argos you can also redeem your Nectar points against it while youre there. I had about 7800 points which translated to an additional Ã,£39 off :) Making it quite a bit under a hundred :D

What are nectar points? are they the reward points you get at sainsbury for your shopping?
