wondering what peoples thoughts are.
I can get a body local for £350
I guess I can get £200 at a push for my 400D if I throw in a kit lens or something...
Is it worth going for? 50Ds are around £450 on ebay, but from the reviews I see the 40d
is better unless you got really good glass.

I did exactly that. Admittedly I only had the 40D for a few months before caving and upgrading to a 7D.

Its a tricky one. At the time I wasnt 100% sure I made the right choice, in terms of on the face of things not really getting much more out of the upgrade (same mp etc). I dont doubt that IQ was still better though.

However now, I would maybe downgrade to a xxD body, but I doubt Ill ever have a xxxD again. When I use them at uni it just feels wrong. Theres something very satisfying about the size, weight and feel of the xxD bodies, and the extra buttons and controls etc are a godsend once you get used to them.

Id maybe be tempted by the 50d now the 60d is out though, I dont think there really is that much difference in IQ unless youre a pro. I know Id have been less likely to upgrade to the 7D if Id have had better live view features and the ability to record video. They arent a massive deal, but I still use them on occasion, as opposed to not being able to use them on the 40d, if that makes sense.

hopfully I'll get £200ish for my 400d if I throw in a cheap lens & some other junk.

got the camera 10mins ago.. makes my 400d look like a toy.

sold the 400d - £270 locally to guy. 2 kit lenses, 4 batteries & a cheap wireless remote trigger.
