an ND4, ND8, Polarizing & an Infared.. oh & an orange for sunset - as we are not allowed to use photoshop

iv often wondered about IR filters, do they not need a massivly better exposure to work than a standard filter?

Thats what I wanted, but got confused. Few lenses I have are 52mm & 58mm, so ive bought 58mm filters & a 52mm to 58mm step up.

keep an eye on ebay if you know what you want. Ive seen filters go for 99p + there are lots of cokin sets - mostly the filters you do in photoshop.

Ive got an IR filter only had a couple of plays so far, but have to use a long exposure, so wondering how the geese were actually shot?

Mustve dropped some serious cash on that set of Hoyas - did you get a good deal somewhere?

I think he shot it in normal & then IR & played around with photoshop by splitting the colours

Think its going to take a lot of experimenting.

could also be an IR modded camera body, as standard they have a filter on the sensor which blocks IR hence the need for massive exposure times. For a while Canon produced a version of the 20D which lacked this filter, and you can still get most cameras modified if youve got the money, inclination and a spare body you dont want to use for normal light work anymore.

that one was taken with a olympus c-2020

probably a blend of several exposures as you suggested then, or possibly even photoshop pseudo IR. Very effective shot however it was created
