What tripods have people got?

I was talking to an Art Teacher who was in work earlier in the week whos also a keen film photographer.  He mentioned he had a spare tripod I could have for Ã,£10, so I obliged him as the one Ive been using aint exactly very good.  I got it off him yesterday, its a Manfrotto 144B with a ball head on it, a Manfrotto 168.

Manfrotto 144B - Legs
Manfrotto 168 - Ball Head

The heads a bit clunky to position, but thats probably just cause I aint used to it but so far its an incredibly steady tripod.  Having had a look on ebay it seems Ive got myself a heck of a bargain, at least Ã,£100s worth of tripod for Ã,£10   twas rather nice of the teacher.

I wouldnt want to actually buy one that expensive myself but for Ã,£10 I wasnt going to say no, but if you dont use it yeah why bother getting one, theres plenty walls and stuff you can use to put your camera on if you need to do anything with long exposures.

Hmm a 2ft tripod, surely thatll just end up giving you a bad back if you use it much.

I had mine up fully before, up to know Ive only really used the first extension which has been maybe 2ft, I put it up fully and put the centre column all the way up and it was above my head so easily around 7ft lol.  Id need laders to see through the eye piece.  Without the centre column up its about 5 1/2ft - 6ft ish.

Hmm max you should write into Manfrotto and ask if theyll do a hand hold type head might be a little bit more comfortable, if not get making them and sell them on ebay make yourself a bit of money lol.
