Looking at a newer and faster camera to upgrade my 300D...

Currently looking at the 450D as that sits at about what I am willing to spend...

What are your thoughts? Ill probably get it with the kit 18-55 IS lense and get rid of the 300d with the non IS lense. (Have found a kit for £60 more than the body price)

The kit lenses on canon arent very good, although they were better than they were.

You arent going to get much for the 300D either.

Ye I know they arent great, although a cheap lense for £65 with IS isnt bad. I could ebay it for about £100 if need be anyway.

As for the 300D with the 18-55 they are going for as much as £180 which I think is a reasonable price.

Can get a 450D with lense for £490 or without for £425.

Does anyone know of any good reasons not to buy now, i.e. new one coming out or bringing back the £50 canon cashback?!?

It is not good to buy any oriental camera gear now (compared with last year), due to the pound/euro rate - prices are 20-odd% higher than they were. Even eBay used gear fetches higher as a result.

Ye I know looking at some HUKD prices they have been significantly less a while back, which is quite annoying! But I guess I either sit out the recession and wait for prices to drop again or dont wait a couple of years and buy one Tuesday But I guess as ebay 2nd hand prices are higher I should be able to get more for the 300D as well (Although I know this wont make the deference up)

I picked up my 40D body only for 475, although this was back in November. Prices seem to be around the 575 mark now!

I thought there was a pretty big difference between the x00D range the x0D range... although I did go from a 300D to a 40D.

I think the gap between the 450D and 40D is a lot closer.

Would like to go for the 40D but think the price leap vs features Id use is too big really unless I can find a bargain!

Also been looking at the 500D which is out soon, but current pre-order price is high, and might see if it drops a while after launch?

Can still use your 300D until then mate as its not an urgent purchase
