When I had my 1.6 Focus and during the fuel tanker drivers warning scares earlier on in the year, I dared it for 33 miles while on the light and literally when trying to get to the petrol station on the day I was s***ing myself in case it would conk out lol. Managed to get to the petrol station in time but even at the petrol station I was still queuing up behind 10 other idiotic panic buying drivers for around 15 minutes. I think the fuel reserve tank in MK1 Focus's is something like 5 litres isn't it?
In my current motor which is a MK1 Seat Leon 1.6, every time the needle hits the last line on the gauge and the light comes on, within 15 minutes of the light coming on the needle is just about sitting at the empty point! I dared it a couple of weeks ago at 27 miles on my way in to work but I thought I would fill up at lunch because the petrol station is only round the corner. Come lunchtime, car wouldn't start
After about 5 attempts it finally fired up but it was running very rough for a couple of minutes. I figured it was down to because of the car being parked on a slight incline, and therefore whatever fuel was left in the tank was not in direct contact with the sender *doh*
