1995 Corsa B Lights Circuits
on: April 05, 2006, 18:55:11 PM
After constantly leaving my sidelights on by mistake when leaving the car I?ve built myself a device that senses headlights, sidelights, interior light, ignition and door circuits; the logic being:

WHEN Ignition and Door are at logic 0 (Door open = 0 as it?s a PTB switch) IF headlights, sidelights, interior light = 1 THEN Output (a M602 w. speaker) = 1

However, when it comes to fitting it to my car I?m at a loss. I can find live and switched live (ignition) but don?t know where to look for the other three.

The interior light can?t just be a line to the actual bulb; because that it would beep whenever you opened the door?it needs to be a line from the switch that keeps the light on even when you shut the door.

Any help greatly appreciated?.I?ve been browsing here for along time?.so I know how good you guys are!

Cheers!

I think Ill be so good to point out wouldnt it just be easier to look if your lights are still on?  :-)

It really should just be something that comes as natural when you come to getting out you car tbh, i.e. hand brake on, neutral gear, electricals off, engine off, put into gear,  get out and lock.

It *should* be...but obviously the motor industry has decided enough people do it to warrant fitting such circuitry as standard to all new cars. Ive not been in or driven a car from about 1997/8 onwards that didnt beep when you open the door with lights on.

Just replace the buzzer that makes the noise.
As far as im aware, its easy.

I am looking for a wire that carries a voltage when:

The headlights are on

The sidelights are on

The switch that keeps the interior light on when the door is closed is in the closed position.

Edit: for clarification, I realise there isnt a single wire that carries a voltage under all those conditions...I realise Im looking for 3 different wires.

There isnt a buzzer that makes a noise. My car dosent, by standard, have any logic circuits to work out when to buzz or a buzzer. I have made the required circuit...but I cant fit it into the car without finding these wires!

I "think" its just part of the relay that controls the lighting system.

Youd be better asking somewhere like www.migweb.co.uk

on a corsa the inside light switch is part of the headlight switch right ? you pull it in and out ? tho Im not sure why you want that one... isn;t the one you want the one that turns it on when the door is open ?

if so... its switched on/off by the negative not the positive, look for the little push switch around the door frame somewhere... when you open the door, switch pops out, contact connects to car body and bingo theres your negative :)

for the headlight ones... take it from the back of the headlight itself (easy, but not so tidy) or the back of the fuse box (little harder, tidier tho)

:)

edit: p.s. if you need a +ve from the interior light for your sircut to work you could easily wire up a small relay with a perm positive and have the neg powering it on/off.......  tho i guess if your building the circut above etc.. then you know what your doing :)

more importantly.... does it work ?  :P

thats looks like a pretty complicated circut for what it does... does the buzzer play a tune ? :)
