205 with Power Steering
on: June 17, 2008, 13:04:07 PM
Hi All,

A mate of mine stumbled what looked like a clone of my car on ebay last night, everything on it was the same, same engine type, colour, trasmition everything etc even the number plate had the same 3 ditgits that my 205 has as well so to me it looked like they were both registered on the same day. While looking through the specs i noticed it said that this 205 had Power Steering on it. I thought this was weird as mine is near enough the same but i havent got power steering on mine at all? I questioned the seller and she said that it deffo had power steering and it came with the car when she got it and that there is a power steering compartment for the liquid under the bonnet and on the ebay listing she had a photo of everything that is under the bonnet. If you compared whats under the bonnet in her 205 to my 205 you wont notice any different at all! Is it likely that if my car did have power steering that it has stopped working of could she of had power steering installed in the car before?

Thanks - Liam

If your power steering has stopped working you would know as it would be very heavy.
Its most likely that it was an extra when new.

^^^ coolant resovoire....

(EDIT: unless thats built into the rad ?... forgot they used to do that!)

cant see a power steering reservoir anywhere in those pics.... but don;t really know the car well enough to going where it should be !

guessing itll be in the front off side somewhere (bottom left of pic) because thats probably where the belt driving the pump is ;)

Come on Alan, how much did we screw on with my 205.

Top Right is expansion tank, Power Steering Res if you have it is under the air intake (the pipe to the left of the battery)

Tho that seems like the none power steering model, to tell properly tell us how many belts you have in the engine bay. If you have only 2 (Drive & Alternator) you have no power steering. If you have 3 then you have power steering :)

Couple of tips about that engine:

TU Series Engine. Single Point Injection.

The ECU has been known to fail easily on hard impacts, so dont go over any jumps :p The rear drums will be a pain in the arse! They are a pain in the arse to do Driveshafts on, so dont go screwing them up! The engines are very sensitive about heat and hate the summer heat!
