About to do something stupid
on: September 17, 2006, 02:30:55 AM
I *was* going to shell out on a medium decent car with the proceeds from the 530d sale, BUT thanks to the damn internet I stumbled  across hiflow heads site - ARGH!

I am on the cusp of ordering one of their lovely engines (Saves me time and effort - the former being something I have NONE of right now) - Im looking at the following (To drop into the activa)

+340bhp 2300cc Engine: Uprated block, 88mm Forged Pistons, Forged rods kit, Long stroke crank, T16 bearings, oil pump, reground crank, water pump, timing belt kit, budget st5 Big valve Maxi head, Fast Road Turbo Cam, Comp Valve spring kit, Hiflow vernier, comp head gasket, L/B pistons/rods/crank.flywheel,clutch cover, ARP conrod bolts, baffle sump,Head bolts,Ported Exhaust manifold, 48mm HFH Throttle body Kit, 8 injector kit , Recond T28 Hybrid Turbo, Dump Valve, uprated actuator, Omex 700 series ECU,fully Dynod , Fully Mapped Fully assemblied.engine. Just Plug & Play

Am also considering the other option - which would sound excellent - a supercharged Mi16, OR they do a bored out T16!!!!!!!!

2200cc Supercharged Conversion: Low comp Forged Pistons,Long stroke crank,T16 bearings,Forged conrod ,Oil Pump, water pump, timing belt kit,st4 big valve maxi head, Hiflow verniers, comp piston rings, comp head gasket, L/b pistons/rods /crank/flywheel/clutch cover,ARP conrod bolts, baffle sump, windage kit, High tensile head sud kit , fully assemblied. Comes complete with Eaton charger ,Omex 600 seriers ECU , fully dynod & Fully Mapped.

2200cc T16 Engine: Low comp Forged Pistons,Long stroke crank,T16 bearings,Oil Pump, water pump, timing belt kit,st4 big valve maxi head, , comp piston rings, Hiflow verniers, comp head gasket, L/b pistons / rods / crank / flywheel / clutch cover,ARP conrod bolts, baffle sump, windage kit, head bolts , fully assemblied. Comes complete with turbo exhaust manifold & oil feed & drain pipework. Our last T16 put out 340bhp @ .7bar

How cool would that be!

Do it :D

Im guessing youve already checked it out well but for that kinda money Id want a drive in a demo car, and Id wanna see what its like in traffic.

Id wanna know;

Cooling.
Details of the comp stuff.
What the valves are made of.
Who makes(regrinds?) the cams.
stg4 vs stg5.
If theyd do a discount for an exchanged engine.

And Id wanna budget for some brakes & parachute.

I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

I have the cooling sorted already - Im going to use the massive radiator and intercoolers I had gotten for a milder project.

I know their stuff is OK as I have seen a few of their D6Cs before - they have been all good.

If I go ahead I cant exchange the engine - as it will go straight into a 205 to recoup the rest of the dough!

can you put the running gear from a 405 mi16 4x4 into the xantia and keep the hydropneumatic suspension?

No on two points - the 4x4 system out of the 405 is as weak as water, and secondly because the activa system is so complicated there is no room for it!

It isnt the hydropneumatic remember - its hydractive II w/activa

How much they asked for a Mi16?

Temptation to get one is beyond anything at the moment...

Rebuilt ones usually sit around £700 which is a bargain considering a set of pistons and liners costs £1000.

You would need a 1.9 GTi to put it into though. Better fun leaving it in the BX or the 405
