Any good online cycle shops?
on: November 19, 2009, 10:44:31 AM
So Ive had a bad experience trying to get some basic supplies from jejamescycles.co.uk

IE, no communication from them beyond the order confirmation email, despite an email a week after the order asking for a status update, and an email a few days later asking for a refund...only to discover today that they had charged my account for half the order ages back. It wouldnt be so bad had I not paid for a courier delivery, as when I placed the order it was the day after getting my bike and I had intended on getting it all sorted for taking out that weekend etc.

So no. As it is Ive had to phone in and ask "WTF?" - Theyve got some convulated "push 1 for..." department thing going on which given the level of service is a bit of a joke. Got through to their sales team and answered a few questions and then basically had several 30 second long pauses whilst I presume the guy on the other end of the phone poked his nose or something. Supposedly everything bar the important thing was sent out by courier on the 8th. Would have been nice to have some emails to say things had been sent and things hadnt been sent, kind of defeats the point of the courier system (everything was in stock(supposedly))

So anyway, Im getting a refund, but I still need some basic supplies such as *cough* lube, a half decent but not expensive pump, and Im still thinking about locking wheel pins/seat stem things. Does anyone have any preferred, tried and tested online retailers?

Jejames is a fantastic bikeshop with really knowledgeable staff. Online presence not so good.

Try chainreactioncycles, wiggle, stif and on-one-cycles.

Ive had good service from the first 2 Soopah mentions, Edinburgh Bicycle are a very good shop also in body and online, maybe not as cheap as the others.

In Sheffield, I wouldnt go to any other store than J.E James, (although an Edinburgh Cycle Company is opening) whereas in Leeds, I would only go to Stif.
